For those on this board thinking Brees wont be back or dont want him back you are wrong. The Saints not only want him back but Need him back in 2020 and here is why:

#1 We HAVE to sign him to spread the dead money we owe him which is 21 million, even with trickery our best option is to sign him hopefully to a cap friendly contract to spread out that hit, maybe cut it in half for 2021 contract year if he isn't here.

#2 If we go with Taysom & Bress combined another year it could be very beneficial to our future QB, if that is Taysom.

#3 Fans like me want to keep him to ring him again.

Bring it on what a great duo!

I believe Brees will be back.
Taysom will be the understudy.
We probably draft a quarterback like Jourdan Love in the first round.
I would prefer, and I think it best to draft a WR #1, even though the draft is a deep WR Class. Second priority for First Round pick would be CB.
We might see our SAINTS trade a couple of our prized veterans for like a First or Second Round pick. I think I will keep an eye on what we do with Kamara and Cam Jordan.
We have all seen the posts of a Kamara trade possibility, but Cam not so much.
Even though Cam had a great season he is getting long in his career. So get what you can while he is still a great player for the next 2-3 years.
We have a Salary Cap problem in trying to sign all of our young talented talent.

There is absolutely no reason for me to believe he's done. He just came off a 3 year stretch where he's played some of the best football of his career. Even though we've come up short, we've knocked on the door in each of those seasons. We've got a talented, balanced roster around him. He's doesn't want to quit knowing that he's still got a chance to be known as a two-time SB winning quarterback. So no, he is not quite ready to close the door yet.

I agree he will be back but I disagree about the money. I think you can only delay that hit, not truly spread it. Unless Drew agrees to a huge pay cut to help offset the money, we are taking that hit. The salary cap will go up soon but that difference will be gobbled up immediately by any free agents that have their contracts come due that year.

Brees is coming back. Taysom will be his understudy and will split more snaps with him. The offense will be designed for both players. Payton will have to tweak the playbook to make sure defenses can't predict what will happen when one QB or the other go out on the field.

I want Drew back and I think he will be coming back, but let's be clear: Drew owes nothing to the saints. Nothing. The decision is his to take.

We don't have a clue the amounts the saints will be willing to pay him, but I think the new contract offer should have friendly conditions for the team.

Surely, we can't end a with a new contract that keeps the same or higher cap hit than the 21 million (a number to keep in mind).

The easiest way to reduce a cap hit is to increase the number of years, at a convenient salary for the team. Is Drew willing to sign for more then one year? We don't know.

I am not sure Drew is willing to come back for cheap, specially considering the year he had. I am not sure either that the Saints will be willing to break the bank (and the cap) to keep Drew playing.

And this is not a matter of discussion between us. It is just about Drew being comfortable coming back, at the conditions and salary proposed.

So, if Drew decides to leave the game today, then we should be grateful and assume the consequences of using the credit card to pay Drew's salary.

Brees signs a 2 year extension with one voidable year - essentially pushing cap money down the road.
Saints then run 2 - quarterback system with Brees starting and Hill taking about 30-40% of the snaps. No RYO. Saints will also draft a QB.

I think as long as Brady is still playing, so will Brees.
