Saints Seems like every other team expected to sign Bridgewater (Speculation) (4 Viewers)

As for Taysom, he still needs to get more accurate with his throws.

I'm curious how you arrived at that determination? Maybe you can add how that comports with the following play? And before you give me that tired response about 3rd string players, he was throwing to the same class of receiver from behind a third string offensive line .

  • If his passes are inaccurate it makes zero difference who the other players on the field are.
  • The only way a football can be caught is if it arrives where the receiver can catch it.
  • He was throwing to less talented receivers who presumably have a smaller catchable target zone than say MT. Or maybe you want to argue that "about to be cut receivers" have better hands than MT?
  • His two year average is 70%. Sorry but even on Uranus that's pretty darn accurate.

Personally, I am not concerned about Teddy leaving. The upside of Taysom Hill is what I think the correct play is for the organization, and quite honestly I would literally never fear Teddy Bridgewater at QB if he signed with a common opponent or divisional opponent of ours.

I really like the guy as a person and think he is a good backup, but as a starting QB, he is a game manager and not someone that will "win" a game for you, but will at best "not lose" the game for you. Big difference.

I feel like a lot of people see backup QB went 5-0 and think it means he must be great. But for those watching the games closely, they know Teddy isn't why the Saints went 5-0.

I know many people will point to a couple of his more-decent games, or that one time he threw for 300 yards that I can remember off-hand, but a lot of that production was off of an excellent screen game, dump-offs, and/or passes to literally the best WR in football, with a game plan tailored by arguably the best schemer and play-caller in football, versus what I believe was a statistically porous pass defense with an injury or two.

So if he signs with Carolina, so be it. I'd be more than happy with facing Teddy twice a year.

Careful what you ask for..

I think Bridgewater’s most likely landing spots are...
1. Panties
2. Chargers
3. Saints
The Panthers are a rebuild like Miami, so I don't see him going that direction. The Chargers need to sell tickets so I can see them going after Brady. If Tampa doesn't re-sign Winston I could see him going there. He and his agent have done a good job of picking the right spots to rebuild his rep, so I can't call it. I guess it comes down to starter money or the right fit.

You could do a lot worse as a rebuilding team to get a top 12 NFL starting QB who is 27 years old with room to grow.

True, but the danger becomes are they going draft a young guy like Jets or most people expect Miami to go after Tua. I don't trust the direction the panthers are going in, so I think the Chargers or TB offer the best chance of stability.

I gotcha - you were looking at it from a "which situation will he feel is best for him" perspective. Makes sense.

Tennessee could be a great spot as well if they decide not to do what would possibly be the dumbest move of the offseason and extend Tannehill as their franchise QB.

Interesting question, who would you better have? Bridgewater or Tanehill?
I do like both. Tanehill has already experience in the system. But I think Teddy is a better option for that system.

A similar case is the Chargers. Tyrod Taylor or Teddy?

Neither of those are legitimate debates. Tannehill and Tyrod Taylor have both proven repeatedly that they are abject failures as starting NFL quarterbacks. Teddy has proven, twice now, the exact opposite.

Perhaps the Titans think "the light has come on" for Tannehill and thus sign him because he's cheap, knows their system, and "finally figured it out". They would be absolute stupid idiots if so, but maybe they think that.

There is not a single person who makes their living in the NFL that would ever say "hmm.. would I rather have Tyrod Taylor or Teddy Bridgewater?!", except maybe whoever runs the drafts for the Browns. Same thing for Tannehill and anyone that doesn't live in Nashville.

I started picturing Teddy on the Patriots, and I'm actually sort of intrigued. I think he might be able to hold it down over there. I am assuming, of course, that Brady moves on. I do think that, perhaps, Andy Dalton might be a good fit for them, too.

Hey LC, don't sit on the fence about Tannehill. Tell us what you really think...

Not sure where you pasted that stat line from, but Taysom Hill is actually just 6-for-13 for his Saints career in passing. That doesn't count his 1-for-2 mark in playoff games. I'm also not sure how you can say at this point his passing abilities pass the "eye test," either.

Hill may yet develop into an every-down QB with Payton's tutelage, but he's not there yet -- on Earth or any other planet.
