Saints Seems like every other team expected to sign Bridgewater (Speculation) (3 Viewers)

Not sure where you pasted that stat line from, but Taysom Hill is actually just 6-for-13 for his Saints career in passing. That doesn't count his 1-for-2 mark in playoff games. I'm also not sure how you can say at this point his passing abilities pass the "eye test," either.

Hill may yet develop into an every-down QB with Payton's tutelage, but he's not there yet -- on Earth or any other planet.

I imagine it's including that well known crucible of greatness, the NFL preseason...

I bet he doesn't have very many Kamara screen passes in his 6 of 13. You can't really judge him as a quarterback on those plays.

Interesting question, who would you better have? Bridgewater or Tanehill?
I do like both. Tanehill has already experience in the system. But I think Teddy is a better option for that system.

A similar case is the Chargers. Tyrod Taylor or Teddy?
Unfortunately that's not an apples to apples question. Because the reality is, it's not simply Teddy or Taysom, it's Teddy in a long-term deal for $25m-$30m/year or Taysom on a 1-year tryout for $4-$8m.

Those are his preseason games with the Saints. You said he was inaccurate. A 70% completion rate is not inaccurate. And, the argument yeah but those are third string players about to get cut is irelabvent. The only qualification for accuracy is the ball is placed where the receiver can catch it.

Ergo they oft repeated claim he is inaccurate is just wrong.

The issue was accuracy. It makes no difference who is catching the ball only that the ball was catchable i.e. accurate. If anything a preseason mark is even more impressive because of the lower quality of receiver.

One can make any number of arguments to support one's chosen position, without any of them being conclusive. If I was in an argumentative mood, I could say that's even *less* impressive because of the lower quality of DB (or indeed overall defence) being played against.

Not to mention that defenses don't game plan in preseason either, showing vanilla schemes that are easy to beat even for a less experienced/capable player.

But I don't feel argumentative, you believe what you believe. Just don't expect everyone else to ride with you on that one ?

I believe all signs are pointing to Teddy Bridgewater in New England. Tom Brady has done an awful bloody lot of moves to exit the Foxboro area and that organization to come back at this point. And if he indeed does move on, the Patriots are very limited for options. If you look through all the QB free agents, either the young ones lack the wins or don't fit the 'Patriots Way' or the older options would essentially be lesser versions of Brady. If you want to start over with a rookie, you've only got a late first rounder without much capitol to move up into the Top 10 to get an elite prospect.

Enter Mr. Bridgewater. A player in the sweet spot of 26-27 who is young, yet experienced. Is regarded as an intelligent player who can learn and execute multiple, even complicated offenses. Or in the Patriots' case, an offense built on shorter passes with only occasional long balls, something Teddy has a career's worth of experience in. He has an extremely compatible personality that you could easily picture working with Daniels or Belichek without conflict, and if there are concerns about him being overwhelmed to take over a franchise run by an elite SB winning coach and a Hall of Fame quarterback? well guess what? He just excelled in that situation in New Orleans. He's proven.

And just for one little more bit, along with Jimmy Garropolo and Johnny Manziel, Teddy was one of the only quarterbacks who Bill Belichek interviewed pre-draft of 2014. One might even guess that if he was available the Patriots might've drafted Teddy instead of Jimmy back then! But what one can definitely conclude is there was initial interest and one would logically conclude based on Belichek's track record with players on other teams, that Bill has likely been keeping tabs on Teddy's career .

Considering Tom Brady is not likely to choose the worst team imaginable for his swan song, I cannot picture the Patriots blowing up their team for a 2021 rookie, while watching Tom Brady march to another Super Bowl. They're going to want to win now. And when teams like the Chargers, Bears, Panthers, Bucs, and others start waving money around at Teddy, the Patriots will have no choice but to ante up. And they've already tipped their hand with the latest Brady rumors that they have $30m earmarked for the QB. Once Brady closes in on a new team, the Patriots will move quickly on Bridgewater.

Very interesting snippet about Belichick interviewing Teddy.

Just need to add that your analysis missed the fact they also have Jarrett Stidham in the system already. Don't forget, Bill didn't flinch about putting his sixth round back up in over Bledsoe when the time came, we don't know how high they rate this guy. For all we know, the Patriots are already planning where else to spend an extra $30m saved by moving on from Brady, with the cheap option.

All that said, I'm not counting out anything already suggested, just adding that they have this option as well.

Tannehill.

Other than Tannehlll signing somewhere else, why would Tennessee even consider bringing in Bridgewater? What makes Bridgewater better for that system than Tannehill?

Those are the regular season statistics, dude. Look again.

For fans not automatically in the tank for any 2020 starter: Taysom lacks seasoning and experience in the offense, with defenses trying to play full-on mind games with him like they do other established starters. He might well develop into what we think he can be, particularly with his arm and not just his feet, but we need to see it first!

Yea I mentioned earlier I'm starting to envision Teddy to the Patriots. I could also see them trying to get Andy Dalton if Cincy picks Burrow.

"dude" Really? Condescending much? And no, the stats I posted are for his preseason games in 2018 and 2019. He had too few regular season passes to make a judgment and the passes he was asked to attempt were typically deep passes which are by nature lower percentage passes. Deep to Kamara (caught) Deep twice to Thomas (caught and caught), deep to Harris (caught).
