A good Saints team that is a playoff regular but you know is not a Superbowl contender or a team that is in rebuild with the hopes of getting young talented players which include a promising QB and a really good cap situation?

Edit. Good point Soggy Moss. Saints will still have same coaching staff in this scenario. Loomis and Ireland will still be the front office lead.

Experienced enough of the “almost” seasons now. Time to think Super Bowl more often. We have reached a point now, where everyone should want to get to the Super Bowl, more than just the one time. At this point, it feels like so many fans are happy with just making the playoffs! We should and need to be above that level now.

Bottom line. I don’t think we need to approach a 6-10 run of seasons, to get a level of talent on this team, that will get us over the hump and a return to the Super Bowl.

Depends on the coach..

If we still have Sean, players will migrate in FA just to play for him, so give me the cap space

The way the Saints do business and structure contracts they will always be a team with a salary cap situation. They are about to be in a situation that comes with young and promising players because they are going to have to pay the young and talented players that they've drafted the last 3 or 4 years.

You're asking a Leopard to change his spots so.....................good luck with that.

Playoff team

I REALLY don’t want to go back to 6-10 (or worse) seasons

I don’t see much of a difference. Especially after how these past 3 seasons ended. Pretty sure we’ve felt more bummed out than most fans of 6 or less win teams

The Saints are nothing but a big tease n I’m tired of it. Would gladly take the pain of a rebuilding season if it leads to ending this team’s jeckyl n Hyde tendencies

I guarantee you that if 50% of this board wants a go for broke season, then 0% would be all like “well, at least we tried” after a 5-11 season

I don't like the choices. There is no "real" such thing as a "Superbowl Contender". That's a term made up by media and fans.
If a team is consistently making the playoffs, then they're doing it right. As right as possible. Once a team is in the playoffs, they're in position to make a run at it. It only takes a few breaks to make it to the big game. Sadly, it only takes a few breaks... or even a single break to lose in the playoffs. Being the best team in the league doesn't in any way guarantee winning a Superbowl. Being the perceived weakest team in the playoffs does not mean you won't win the Superbowl.

So with the choices available, I'll go with the perennial playoff team. The season is long and I like my team winning more games than they lose... a LOT more. I like making the playoffs and having a shot at it.

I don't like rolling the dice and the going through mediocrity of being a re-building team. 3 years at 7-9 are still fresh in my mind.
And regardless of how good a coaching staff and front office is... and even if they do everything right... who's to say the rebuild will make them superbowl champs? I mean, most teams that rebuild consider it a success if they win their division or make the playoffs even once after the rebuild.

It’s really not a good question or the options aren’t good bc this team doesn’t need anything close to a “rebuild” to be a true contender. They already are.
