I'll steal what I saw someone comment on a reddit thread about this:

May Rush receive the same empathy and respect he has always shown to others.
Thanks for finding the sentiment I wanted to share.

There is a pretty awful George Carlin Bit about Businessmen who suck down big fat cigars. He's ripping on them pretty hard. Then he ends it by saying, "but hey, it's not all bad news. You know what's good about it? Cancer of the mouth!"

Damn, George. You hated business men.

But, I forking hate cancer. It has taken too many of my family members, including one 19 yr old cousin. I don't wish that on anyone. But I understand the crap he'll get.

Indeed. That's pretty much where I am. I just never want to minimize the impact cancer has, on families of every stripe. It doesn't care who you are, and the carnage it leave in its wake, I wouldn't wish on anyone, nor their families. That's really the crux for me, but this thread has gone off in a bit different direction. Understandable I guess

Dude. His family is either complicit and enjoying the fruits of his evil or they've stopped caring for him and are sitting back watching karma prove itself in a big way.

Ok, so how do "WE" fix our country? There is lots of blame to go around, how do we get past it? How do we drown out the extremes on the Left and Right and focus on the middle?

Maybe, I have no idea. I'm not my father and my father isn't me. But I love him as he is, even if not necessarily everything about him. When he's gone, it's gonna hurt. Suffering cancer makes it worse. No matter how far gone, it still hurts.

And it isn't for me to judge. Maybe there's something more in the afterlife in terms of judgement. It's not up to me though. No family goes through loss of a loved one unscathed when cancer is the cause.

I get the sentiment. We're just approaching this differently. To each his own I guess.

Don't know. This is about Rush having a cancer and a lot of people not caring because he was sheetty person.

It seems like you keep on wanting to make it about politics.

Yeah this really went in the wrong direction. I am sorry about my part in that.

personally experiencing this (as a spouse), for 4 1/2 years (8 1/2 since diagnosis) of living with the pain of losing my wife.

also, watching my grandma suffer through it (i have a strained relationship with), and even a few people i (let's be nice) did not care for, it isn't a punishment i'd want anyone to endure; not because of them, but the lasting affect it has on anyone close to the person.

i know i posted this already, in this thread i think, but i believe it is more important to consider those around a person, family especially, that it hurts them way more than the happiness for those against.

in the 20 years of knowing my father-in-law, this is the only time i have ever felt guilt and sadness for. he is a terrible person, but he did not deserve to experience this.

The sad thing is the decisiveness in this country. I lost friends when Scott Walker was running for governor. My wifes best friend for instance told her that she could no longer be around me because I supported Walker. I hate that. It is sad that politics divide us so strongly.
I've seen this sentiment posted several places. All I can say is that a friend that you lose due to a political difference was never a friend worth having or keeping. I have friends who fully support Trump and we are still friends. We don't discuss politics. He knows I am ardently opposed to trump and I know he supports trump. I simply can't imagine anyone I call a friend deciding that we are no longer friends because of a political difference. It's always been my contention that a true friendship will never dissolve due to a difference of opinion.

Yep. To each his own.

I imagine your faith and religious beliefs preclude you from having the attitude I do and I respect that. If that's the way you feel I'm not going to try to change your mind. But I don't believe in any afterlife so the only judgment I care about is my own and I don't have to wait for it to be rendered.

You keep telling yourself that.

What we are seeing today, is the legacy of Limbaugh, Gringrich, Buchanan, O'Reilly, etc.
There is no equivalency here.

I'd gladly have a beer with you if you come out to the DC area. It's all good. :9:
