Let's just put an end to this Taysom Hill nonsense right now (1 Viewer)

If Brees retires the truth will come out about how Payton views Taysom.

It was a clean pocket but look at the video below your comment. He had to step to his left just slightly. That threw off his timing and took a little off the ball.

I didn't realized Ram was the OL. I thought it was a guard. lol

EDIT: Hill's arm could also not be strong enough. I'm trying to to give him the benefit of the doubt.
You're reaching. he waited too late to move. He had green grass all around him. That's his inexperience.

It's getting to the point where I want him to retire just so we can find out who got next.

The deal depends on what we agree constitutes as success.

How about top 15 in passing yards, which this year would be at least 3700 yards (rounding off). And a passer rating of at least 90, which is very close to the 15th spot as well.

Kyler Murray put up 3722 yards as a rookie and finished at the 15th spot in passing yards. His passer rating ranked 21st at 87.4.

Sounds reasonable.

8th longest ball out of 16,000 (aprox) thrown this season. 9 yards further than any completion Teddy has ever thrown. In fact Teddy has only thrown two completions that traveled more than 40 yards in his entire career. Three of Taysom's 7 NFL completions went as far or further that any pass Teddy has thrown and you can include Kamara's TD catch that was called back on a penalty.

How does you calculus factor in yards rushing and rushing TDs? If his legs add 7 TDs and 700 yards for instance.

Ryan Leaf had a much stronger arm than Peyton Manning. Yes, Taysom may have a stronger arm than Teddy but that's a very limited way to evaluate a QB. Neither our beloved Drew or or Brady are known for rocket arms.

I calculated that there were around 16,000 psses thrown in the NFL this season. His was the 8th longest through the air.

You have an interesting definition of "severely underthrown ball",

Where did you see this?

Not doubting you, I'm genuinely curious bc I enjoy stuff like this.

Look I'm just responding to the silly claims he under threw Harris. Go watch the longest throws this year and you see that the majority are caught punt style with the receiver waiting or even running back to the ball. On very long passes the flight time required usually allows the defenders and the reciever to be at the point of reception. The play worked the ball was placed where the reciever could catch it and the defenders could not stop it or intercept. At the instant he threw the ball there were two defenders converging from opposite sides of the field with Harris between them. 7 completions and 3 were deep bombs. And somehow his detractors spin that into bad QB, inaccurate QB. Ok but maybe your standards need a reality check.

LCAD is longest completed air distance. Taysom is not listed because I think they impose a minimum, pass attempt number to qualify for listing. Taysom's throw was 58 yards as I recall. The list is sorted by LCAD.

That's really interesting. Thank you.

Also, the two right at the bottom:

Bridgewater: 45.4
Brees: 42.8

He did un-throw Harris but that wasn't a arm strength issue in my view. Sometimes the throw is a little late. I don't knock him for that, it happens to most QBs. Mahommes undrew Hill on one throw in the SB. Ideally you want to hit the receiver in stride and Harris had to slow up.

My only point is that completions thrown that far don't happen very often and complaints about his throw are really nit picking . If he had thrown it the 5 yards further they all say he should have it would have been the longest ball thrown this year.

Yes but when the ball was thrown the play is still developing. He had to predict where the reciever and defenders would end up. A longer ball by one too many yards is an incompletion at best. Seriously he has thrown 3 bombs that were caught in only 6 completions. That is not chump change.
