Saints Make your Decision (2 Viewers)

Financially it's not an ideal situation but Drew still gives us the best chance to win. If he still wants to play I don't think they have much of a choice.

We’ve been having “the best chance to win” with Drew for over a decade. And all we do is continue to fall short

Albeit it’s not all on him, still he bares some of the blame. Especially for recent events

Of course they have a choice. They can keep what they don’t owe him n use it in other areas to improve the team. Having Drew onboard doesn’t necessarily make u a contender anymore so quit paying him like he does. That simple

Thank god, honesty.

I think the Saints need to respectfully make the decision for him. It’s just bad business to give $40 million to a guy in his 40s who now struggles to finish a season strong

Just too bad the Saints don’t look as if they have the balls to do it

struggles to finish the season strong? Player of the month in December.

Yeah I agree. This whole were so close is just lying to ourselves. Well it doesn't matter what we think. The Saints as an organization need to take a deep look at themselves, get a vision and take the steps necessary to best execute plan.

31 other teams fall short every year. He has one superbowl win. How many current NFL QBs have more?

Yeah after a 6 wk break. Which he won’t get next season if he’s re-signed unless he gets injured again. And I don’t think anyone’s hoping for that

Did he finish strong 2 seasons ago? No sir. December of 18’ was easily some of the worst performances of his career

We’re top 5 in odds to win the superbowl. He’s top 5 in odds to win NFL MVP. You don’t force that guy out the door. Those odds will plummet withTeddy, Taysom, or the rookie of your choice.

In my opinion Mahomes has now set the bar for what it takes to win the Superbowl. Yep you and other people are right with Taysom and Bridgewater the Saints have no chance of getting to the Superbowl. This team right now has no chance to beat the Chiefs.

With Brees the Saints couldn't even beat the Vikings.

Me personally I wish the Saints would go a different direction. Im Ok with losing seasons especially if the Saints somehow land that next franchise QB. I believe the Saints have a vision and scouting staff in place to get this team back to being a title contender.

Yes, but what were our odds the last three years? I get the Drew gives us the best chance argument but to keep him for one more role of the dice increases the odds of losing the best chance of winning post Drew in the short term ( yes, I'm a Teddy advocate).

Good conversation so far. This is a tough topic. I love Brees dearly and I hated posting this thread. Me saying this situation was Brett Favreish was a little exaggerated. That being said Im Saints fan first over any player.

Thanks to all who have been civil on this very difficult topic. It's not an easy one and I understand why many dislike it.

How long have we had these good odds with no results tho? I’d be willing to bet that the same ppl who gives us those odds also would bet the farm that we’ll eventually get stopped in the playoffs

No matter how u slice it, having Drew on the roster isn’t exactly getting the job done. If u don’t wanna force him out the door, that’s fine. Just don’t pay him what he n his agent will be asking for n let nature take it’s course

Drew is a proven commodity, I get that but so is Teddy just at a lower level.
I think we have to remember the journey didn't just start at getting to the Bowl, it starts with winning your division and getting to the playoffs. The Chiefs were a playoff caliber team with Alex Smith when they drafted Mahommes. Instead blowing things up, why don't we give TB 2-3 years to see if he can be that guy and if he's not we'll try and draft someone.

It's funny you mention Alex Smith. That's exactly who I compare Teddy to. It isn't good enough.

Teddy had more success in his first year as a starter than Alex Smith.
