Anyone else keeping an eye on this sign stealing the Astros had in 2017? Saw were they stated Bregman wore a devise to let him know when an off speed pitch was coming.... I would be stunned if this were actually true had high respect for Bregman, he was not an athlete really just a kid that worked so hard on his game to get were he is.... be a shame all is hard worked tarnished for cheating....

Only thing I've heard about so far was the video sign stealing and the banging-on-the-trash-can method of signalling the Astros' batter.

Was the Bregman-wearing-a-device news on a major news site, or on a blogging site like Bleacher Report?

Hmmm ... some major-ish sites have picked this up, but so far no one's saying that there's proof out there. One source cited is Carlos Beltran's daughter

Seems like a lot of times, though, when rumors like this start ... they end up having legs and get acknowledged and proven in the long run. Guess we'll see.

The Astros thread on the EE shows a twitter video of Altuve appearing to tell his teammates not to rip his jersey after a walk-off HR in ALCS one year. He then goes straight to the dugout and locker room. Let’s face it no player does that even for a walkoff in July.

If he did it, I have absolutely no sympathy for him.....One major league team appears to have gotten screwed out of a World Series title two years in a row by two different teams for this nonsense. Players should be suspended for this......It's not enough to just fire management types.

Personally, I'll always wonder because I thought Bregman was a very good player at LSU, but did not see him ever becoming as good as he is now. You have to wonder if that was on the up and up....If the dude bats .250 this year, I think we'll have our answer.

I was a big astros supporter during their 3-4 year playoff run. I am done with these guys. If I am watching one of their games this year, i will be rooting against them.

i have the same thoughts as you on bregman. Very good player, but the guy just starts jacking 40+ bombs a year. Seemed odd

Think the players got away with some nasty suspensions, best guess is probably so many on the team to suspend so they went with the GM/Manager route and the taking away draft picks.... seems there is someone coming forward about this every few weeks, but all were pitchers on the Astros no players have come forward with any real details.... mainly since the MLB announced no players will be accused of any wrong doing due to no evidence.... and with that they are pretty much keeping silent.

I don't think it was lack of evidence, it was the fact they would have to suspend so many players. One could argue that every player that played for the sign stealing teams should get a suspension of some sort while some should get lengthy bans.

The players losing income would then have incentive to blow it open and expose, that much like bounty gate, this is a league wide practice (as suggested by a number of retired and current players for multiple teams implicating teams like the Brewers, Dodgers, Yankees, etc) and Manfraud/MLB would take one hell of a hit all around. It is better for baseball if this investigation stops with the Astros and Red Sox and that they serve as a warning to all the other clubs... getting the players and the union involved would get ugly.

I heard a couple guys talking about this at work a couple days ago. What I found amusing that as their shock that baseball players would cheat. I laughed and shook my head. Maybe this was their first season covering the sport. Cheating and baseball go together like football and concussions.

LOL.

Exactly.

And if anyone thinks that the Astros were the only team doing this type of cheating then they are living in a hole in the ground. I can assure you there are other teams, not named Red Sox, that were doing this as well.

Like my main man Carlos Correa said today, you got to look at the FACTS.

Ultimate FACT: Alex Bregman's numbers AWAY (where this sort of cheating is IMPOSSIBLE) are better than they are at HOME.

That's for 2017 when the 'cheating' happened. In 2018 his numbers home/away were pretty much even, whereas in 2019 his numbers away were especially better than his numbers at home. This doesn't fit the narrative that's being shoved down your throats, does it?

The Astros DID cheat, yes, just like the Saints had an illegal "Pay for Play" program where big plays (including hits) got you a little $ bonus. And just like the Saints, it's being overblown by the media, with the faux outrage from other pansy players being absolutely ridiculous. The FACT is, this sort of
'cheating' not only happens on various other teams throughout the league, but it's been going on in different aspects for well over a hundred years now in baseball.

Another fact, the MLB hasn't gotten this much coverage from the mainstream media in over a decade. Yeah, thank the Astros for that! Me myself, I am more PUMPED for this season than I've ever been. I cannot WAIT for the Astros to kick some serious tail this year.

GO ASTROS!!!!!!!!

MLB players are letting loose on the Astros and Manfred.... Were where they when all the PED and Steroids use in the MLB

The steroid era reportedly runs from the late 80's to late 2000's, according to ESPN. I don't know all the MLB players you're referring to, but let's focus on the players in this article.

Mike Trout - MLB career started in 2011
Aaron Judge - MLB career started in 2016
Cody Bellinger - MLB career started in 2017
Kris Bryant - MLB career started in 2015
Nick Markakis - MLB career started in 2006. He spoke out against PEDs.
Trevor Bauer - MLB career started in 2012
Stephen Strasburg - MLB career started in 2010
Howie Kendrick - MLB career started in 2006
Mike Clevinger - MLB career started in 2016
Justin Turner - MLB career started in 2009 but he railed at Manfred calling the trophy a piece of metal
Sean Doolittle - MLB career started in 2012

In summary, most were too young and not in MLB during the steroids era.
