A different LSU option, can Delpit replace Von Bell? (1 Viewer)

Me too. I love Bell but not sure we can pay him.

Bell won't get more than a 4/32 deal, we could easily give him that

We will have 20 million in dead cap from Drew's deal last season, but even with that we can still clear in the neighborhood of 40 million in space rather easily, use about 10 on Drew (push the rest back), then we have about 30 to play with in FA

I am convinced more the ever that Drew came for another shot at the title. I am convinced also he has been informed in details of the organization plans for 2020.

So I will like to start a very preliminary draft conversation.

thinking on the obvious needs, we have the departures of Andrus Pete, Von Bell and the need of a second receiver.

I think we have in house the replacement for Pete was in Nick Easton. We can delay drafting an interior lineman for later rounds.

This a deep draft for receivers, so maybe we can delay until the third round to-pick one.

And the it’s strong safety. I love Bell and for that reason he will get an offer elsewhere. I liked what I saw of Delpit but you guys as homers should have a more informed opinion.

Your thoughts if he will fit with our team?

First thing first , stay were you are at in draft- see if they can get Jordan Love from Utah St. let him sit behind Drew and Hill.

if not Love, maybe an o-lineman to help out with loss of Peat.

Since you are thinking about LSU players in the first, I rather get Patrick Queen for linebacker. We lose Kiko and Klien and need a quick lb to lineup with Davis.

or trade back get additional picks and get the slot receiver in Jefferson or Hellaire if you want the LSU guys that know somewhat of Saints playbook

if no trade, you can possibly get LSU TE in late 3rd to partner up with Cook and Hill and have an offense similar to Ravens

Did Moss officially declare for the draft? I remember right after the Championship game when he was asked, he said he was going to see how he graded out as to where he'd be drafted and then make a decision to go back to school or enter the draft.

I didn’t know that people felt this way about Bell. I’ve always thought he was a beast on defense. He always has a knack for finding the ball. I hope he stays a saint for a long time.

Granted, his INT numbers aren’t ideal for a safety, but his FF and FR are elite. He’s a great hybrid safety/LB

We think Bell may leave because we like him a lot, and we presume he will have interesting offers that maybe we won't be able to match.

I do hope he stays.

My question was more about the players. I really don't have a bone of where are players may come from. I don't have a preference for any college football team.

I asked about LSU's Delpit because I know people here follow the tigers with more passion and detail than I do.

For the games I saw, I have a good impression about Delpit, I just wanted to read opinions about him as a player and if he fits our scheme.

Bell has grown into his position while Williams has deteriorated....I like Bell, I never thought he was an issue. Marcus Williams to me as a liability where Bell is solid. MHO

Yea I misunderstood something when I made the comment. I thought people were unhappy with Bell and wanted to replace him

Bell's a good one, and gets a tad better every year. Pay him, but don't overpay because we need OL and Edge. He's probably a goner.

Delpit looks really light in the arse to me. I don't think he is even close to being as good of a tackler as Bell.

Honey Badger was way smaller. Can't judge heart/tackling by the size of the player.

With that said... Delpit did take a step back this past season. May be because of the shoulder injury. May be that he simply regressed... but someone will get a good player wherever he goes.

He does look lean. At 6'3" he probably has a lot of room to grow. He's listed at 203 lbs so it'll be interesting to see what he measures at the combine.
