A float in tonight’s Nyx parade has struck and killed a woman (Paradegoer also killed by float at Endymion) (1 Viewer)

I was 2 blocks away. She tried to get a throw on the ground between a tandem float and was run over.

Ugh. It's so terribly needless and sad. I feel for her and her family. We left the route as the parade stalled. My people texted me just as we were getting home.

Everything behind float 21 was ended. They rerouted a few bands and marching clubs but all the floats from 22-45 never finished the route. Floats 42-45 never started.

I could understand if it was a kid, but how does an adult get run over by a float?
But man, that sucks for her family. the article I read, her husband was at home and when he got an alert that someone was run over he was thinking how bad it would be for their family, not knowing he was talking about himself.
I also heard that this was the first time since the 80's this has happened in NO, so considering how many parades run each year, the track record seems pretty good, especially how many times I've seen many people take chances getting something between the floats

The word was that she was crossing back and forth a lot and attempted to cross between a double float, which just seems insane unless she was super drunk. She tripped on the hitch connecting the floats and that was that. It's terrible and I feel for her, her family, and everyone who witnessed it

Honestly I am surprised it doesn't happen more often.

I don't understand this. How the hell does this happen?

It's crazy. I was just telling my wife that this was always possible but I guess you just don't know when it can happen.

I'm reading the city is barring tandem floats for the remainder of the year.

So it was another tandem float where someone tried to cross over??
