Draft rumor: Saints targeting multiple WRs (1 Viewer)

Trade up.

Brees does better with bigger guys like Lamb and Shenault than with small speedsters like Ruggs.

Not that it's going to happen, but I would love to trade down.

The need from us fits the depth, and we don't need a certify #1 receiver.

I am certainly not against us drafting two wide receivers this year.

We need a quick WR not another Thomas. If we're going to be a retread and not sign Sanders then the WR we take has to be quick!

I still want ******* Sanders!

OK, just wanted to make sure. Cause we definitely weren't the worst wr group in any measurable way as far as I can see.
CGM had more receiving yards than 6 entire teams, iirc.

CGM caught for more yards than 6 entire teams.

I'd rather another CGM than take 3 wrs this draft.

Quantity/=quality.

My top 5 guys are squarely entrenched at my top:

Jeudy
Lamb
Shenault
Reagor
Edwards

Ruggs is falling a bit in my book because he is very Similar to John Ross who has been a bust. I think that he will need a very strong armed qb to constantly hit him in stride like Mahomes, Luck, Rothlisberger, or P. Manning did with the likes of Tyreek Hill, Ty Hilton, Marvin Harrison, or Mike Wallace. At best I see him as similar to Emmanuel Sanders or Desean Jackson. He just seems risky.

The rest like Higgins and Mims I feel will probably need more time to develop.

CGM needs help in the playoffs. Laviska is the best of that bunch imo.

I'm all for drafting a WR if they are truly BPA....I trust SP, Jeff Ireland and staff to make that determination. But I certainly do not want them to reach for a WR when there is a better option available at oline or dline or CB....

Shenault measured almost pound for pound and inch for inch as AJ Brown.

Brown 6'0 226lbs

Shenault 6'1 227lbs

The comparisons are already glaring but I expect Shenault to run faster than Brown's 4.57 40.

Im confident that Any of those top 5 can provide it.

I also like Darrell Stewart and Justin Jefferson as 3rd rd slot guys.

Based on the physical attributes and projected round drafted (bonus point for round 1) these WRs all are at a grade of 3 or higher before they do any speed/agility/explosiveness drills compared to the top 25 WRs from 2019.

Aiyuk, Brandon: 4 (projected round, relative body size, hand size)
Claypool, Chase: 3 (height, relative body size, hand size)
Gandy-Golden, Antonio: 3 (height, relative body size, hand size)
Higgins, Tee: 3 (projected round, height, relative body size)
Jefferson, Justin: 3 (projected round, height)
Jeudy, Jerry: 3 (projected round, height)
Johnson, Juwan: 3 ( height, relative body size and hand size)
Lamb, CeeDee: 3 (projected round, height)
Mack, Austin: 3 (height, relative body size and hand size)
Patmon, Dezmon: 3 (height, relative body size and hand size)
People-Jones, Donovan: 3 (height, relative body size and hand size)
Ruggs, Henry: 3 (projected round, hand size)
Shenault Jr., Laviska: 4 (projected round, height, relative body size)
Stewart Jr., Darrell: 3 (height, relative body size and hand size)
White, Cody: 3 (height, relative body size and hand size)

If Bryan Edward has a 1 round grade on him, he would be at 4.

I need to do more research on Juwan Johnson, Patmon, DPJ, Stewart and White as they all have the height/relative body size and above average hand size.

I have seen some footage of DPJ and he looks like he could be a force. There's a video where he blocks a defender for about 5-10 yards and then pancakes him in the endzone.

Nothing will surprise me, but I’m not feeding in to all these pre-draft rumors.

The same argument being made to snag several receivers early (loaded class) can also be a solid reason to grab another position of need since there will be more receivers available later. It will all boil down to BPA, mixed with positions of need, as always.
