It might be just pre-draft chatter, but two teams over the weekend told me to watch Houston and DeAndre Hopkins, who has three years and a reasonable $40 million left on his contract, and who’d cause only a $3-million cap hit to the Texans if they traded him. Houston is currently in draft hell, without a top-50 pick in 2020 and 2021, and coach Bill O’Brien has huge needs to fill on his offensive line, in the secondary and overall youth on the front seven; J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus will play this year at 31 and 30.

I've seen this around and just now on the Pat McAfee show Michael Lombardi just confirmed that the big name WR that was on the block was Hopkins.

When are they going to bring in a real GM?

Dude is taking a shot at O'Brien because they made "win-now" trades, but they are now in cap hell, and will possibly need to trade their best player to re-coup just to keep their head above water (Good Times).

They are saying Bill O'Brien is a bad GM. He gave up all his high draft picks in 2020 and 2021 to try to "win now" in 2018 and 2019, but they didn't "win now". Now, to recoup some draft picks, he wants to trade WR Hopkins because trading him would only leave $3 million in dead-cap space this year eventhough his contract still has 3 years and $40 million left on it. Sounds like the contract may be back-loaded and will cost them more over the next few years.
