Love it (for the most part). I think he's better than Bell and will probably make less. He's also a vet leader for the back field.

The only part I don't like is losing the upside from youth. I think CGJ has that though and we have a couple years to develop a draft pick if we'd like.

For a couple of years I think it will improve our defense for less than what Bell was asking for.

Opposite of my thoughts on this but I can certainly see your points and appreciate them.

This will allow CJGJ to stay in the role he thrives in as a rookie. I see the Jenkins signing as a “win” for CJGJ

Yeah, I was saying if Bell goes I want to replace the SS to keep CGJ in his role. I think he can play SS, and probably will eventually, but I like him as our nickel guy for now. He looked great in the role and gives him a slightly more limited role to learn and grow in.

It's a short term move to get Brees a chip. Our biggest issue in the secondary has been IQ.

Rewind the clock.

Winston 40 yard Hail Merry
Newton wide open Hail Merry that couldn't connect
Minneapolis Miracle
14-0 point deficit to The Eagles
Huge 3rd Down reception to get the Rams in FG range
Couple of huge yardage 3rd down passes against Minnesota

If we win a championship or we lose by other means than secondary. It is worth it.

Totally agree on all points. Just don’t think we are/were one piece away.

I was on the fence at first. But then I read up a bit more on Jenkins. His coverage ability is still very good, which we are going to need in the NFC South.

Bell was better in run support, but our run defense is already outstanding. With Brady joining TB and Atlanta and Carolina focusing even more on the passing game, this makes a ton of sense AND it costs less than a deal for Bell would.
