Possible bargains? (1 Viewer)

I really like WR Demarcus Robinson and LB Devondre Campbell as solid under the radar signings with upside. Campbell is no world beater, but he graded out slightly better than Klein last season and had much better stats. I'd welcome the athletic upgrade and feel he offers more in pass defense.

I'd be fine with adding Perriman for WR3 money, but he hasn't proven on a consistent basis to be worth more than that yet.

On a side note, I'd really like to see Stephan Sullivan drafted in the 6th or 7th (if we pick one up). He was underwhelming during his time at LSU, but he was too big to play WR and ran out of time trying to adapt his body to a TE role. Dude has a huge wingspan and I think would be a fun chess piece for SP to develop. I believe he was once a 5 star WR recruit coming out of high school. The talent is there, just never settled into a position.

Robinson is a guy I thought could be a bargain signing to take a shot on.

WR Tajae Sharpe is also intriguing to me. He struggled early on but has beaten out every competitor the Titans have thrown at him. He's 6'2" so he's tall, like Payton likes. And he can play slot as well as outside effectively. And he's coming off a rookie deal, which is a good player to target. I don't want to put all our chips on a rookie, even a first rounder. We need help now. So whether we sign one of the top guys or look for a bargain like Sharpe, I'm all for it.

According to PFF, no drops on 38 targets last year. How amazing would that be at #2?

Anthony Sherman would be an excellent FB to add to the Saints offense. Great lead blocker

I don't think many of us think about FB until we fail on 3rd and 4th and 1 and get stuffed. Then we remember how valuable a good FB is to our system. Really good and insightful call Kamara! thx

I value the FB position, and a good FB in the Saints offense can be very beneficial. CSP appears to value athletic FBs that are really converted RBs that have learned to lead block and pass protector effectively. Line was perfect... Heath Evans was in the same mold, but his time with the Saints was cut short due to injury. Kuhn was an athletic guy that could handle short yardage duty and catch...
That’s my only question about Sherman... he’s an excellent lead blocker, but I don’t know if he can catch and be the short yardage runner CSP seems to like in that role.
Michael Burton is a name to remember... he was with the Saints last preseason, and he’s similar to Line... he’s a FA now, after spending last season with the Redskins.

I’d absolutely LOVE to see the Saints use a 3rd day pick on AJ Dillon (assuming he falls) and convert him to FB and short-yardage RB. He blew up the Combine though, so his stock may have gone up too much for that scenario to play out.

I also still have my sleeper prospect crush, Josiah Deguara from Cincinnati. He would be an awesome FB/H-Back/TE hybrid. He should be there Day 3.

Definitely need to do something about the fullback position. They signed a guy late in the season, Ortiz IIRC. Wonder if he's the answer.

I'd be interested to know what coaches and GMs think about Breshad Perriman. He was invisible his entire career until week 13 of last season. His career catch percentage is 48.7%. To put that into perspective here are the career catch percentages of a few WRs who were never known for their hands:

Ted Ginn - 54.2%
Devery Henderson - 55.4%
Robert Meachem - 61%

So do you judge him by the last 5 games of the season or by the rest of his career? He is the definition of boom or bust.

Im not going to defend Peat because I saw what everyone else saw out of him last year, but he was injured and probably should have been put on IR for the season. With that said, Im still a bit surprised he hasnt been signed as even so-so linemen are in demand

The problem is that Peat is ALWAYS hurt. So though it may be a reason...it's not a reason I expecting to result in him playing better next season.

I honestly think that we are just not a very good fit for him. He needs to be attacking downhill. We do a bunch of zone runs, delayed handoffs, and ask quite a big from our OL in pass protection. He needs to go to a heavy power running offense.

I think that you consider the entire body of work. He was complete trash his first three seasons with the Ravens. He started turning it around in 2018 with the Browns, and then played pretty well last year on a very small sample size with the Bucs. I think that you can consider him an ascending player who is likely a late bloomer. There's some risk there...but I don't think there's any question that he has improved since his first few seasons in the league. I still would like him much more as a #3 WR than a starter though.

I have always like Sharpe and he is exactly what we need at WR - reliable. Did not know this stat, incredible. Sign him up right now

Wonder what the price on Suh or Ansah would be? If they'd come cheap enough, they could really give a boost to our DL. Just spitballing though

Just heard on NFLNetwork that Suh wants to stay in Tampa. I am not sure how much Tampa is willing to offer him.

Not sure if he would be a bargain but Logan Ryan should be high on our list. He can cover outside and slot effectively which fills a major need for us.

There should be some decent FB UDFA options. I'd expect to see one or two brought in and maybe a vet FA to compete.
