Janoris Jenkins' Restructured Contract strengthens the Saints Secondary for 2020 (1 Viewer)

Wow! This will be the most talented secondary in the NFL! Jenkins, Lattamore, M. Jenkins, M. Williams, P.J., and robinson....if they can play as a team, this defense will be very Scary! Dennis Allen do your magic!!!!

How does restructuring the deal strengthen the DBs in 2020? He was already under contract to be our DB in 2020 and he’s still under contract to be our DB in 2020.

We had all those players last year, minus malcolm jenkins. Im still not sold. I would not rate them as top.

I wish I shared your enthusiasm. As a matter of fact I can’t remember a time in my 40 years of being a fan, thinking our secondary was lights out. Ever. Guess for me the Greer days would be the best secondary play. Dome patrol era had some good too but that was the amazing LB’ers causing it to look that way imo. Maybe I’m misremembering and forgetting some great secondary’s. 09 was opportunistic solely because of Sharper being amazingly elite that season.
Sure looks good on paper. For the last couple of years, I have been really torn on secondary play. They are as good as it gets until they must make make a stop. At that point they become Swiss cheese
I think it’s mental, and or coaching. Maybe a combo.

Injuries are the key, not the names on the roster, which are legitimately top 3 in the league as a group.

I dont agree. As evidenced by losing 3 playoff games by giving up touchdowns and large gains on defense.

The Saints aren't exactly known for their Secondary play. We've had a few good players here and there but for the most part it's been Corey White and Toast Thomas and Jason David, etc. I can remember thinking Kevin Kaesviharn was a good pick up. I remember being optimistic about Tebucky Jones. It's been a parade of terrible to mediocre.

So I totally understand where you're coming from but right now, on paper, this Secondary looks solid. If Malcolm Jenkins can be better in coverage than Bell was then that alone will be huge. If Janoris Jenkins can stay in the general vicinity of the man he's covering that could be huge. But the guy that has me really excited is CGJ. He is a natural born ball player. He's a play maker.

Mark my words and mark them well, it's going to rain turnovers this year in The Dome.*

* This prediction is based on the assumption that all players are healthy and good at football. Subject to change.

I'm just thinking we now truly have 2 safeties who can both play man coverage. This should make the defense a bit less predictable.
