I personally would love to see the Saints send a 6th or 7th round pick to Miami for Josh Rosen. I would love to see him learn under Payton and grow - this would give us Josh and Taysom going forward. I'm not terribly interested in Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, or Jameis Winston. I guess a mid round pick on a QB is very possible, but this just seems to make sense.

What do you guys think?

I'd like to see what Payton can do with him. He was a rookie on one of the worst teams in the last 20 years and was then traded to another bad team. He got lit up all the time due to O line issues and I'm sure he's lost confidence.

As with all the signings in the post-Galette, post-Byrd era, it's a self-fulfilling thing. If this FO is convinced he'd humble himself, get mature and WANT to be here to learn under the masters, he'll be a Saint. If they have a shadow of doubt, then he won't be anywhere near their radar.

I think such a move would be all upside. Questions about his love and commitment to the game have dogged him for years and that's a concern but from a physical standpoint there's a lot to like.

If anyone can get something out him it would be Sean Payton.

I would like to see how the draft plays out first. If we do not draft a QB then, he could be an option.

Was he the QB that had draft concerns about his desire to play football?

i started a thread about this last year at draft time i thought a 2nd was a no brainer, but a 4th are higher i think is a steal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no he is just placed in a bad situation with coaching change and Murray in AZ and Miami is a shirt show on offense.. if he was ever going to live up to his potential the Saints would be the place. he has all the skills and confidence

I thought he was the best PAC12 QB that came out of the draft a couple years ago. Darnold is massively overrated like EVERY USC QB that comes out. Rosen has just been in some bad situations. I don’t think he’s proven anything yet in the NFL but to backup Brees and work with Payton could do something for him.

I like Josh and would love to have him.

I also think the saints need an additional quarterback that can play if something would happen to Drew during game time. I thought we would look at someone like Chase Daniel, Colt McCoy or Kase Keenum. But after Teddy's contract last year, the salaries for career backup have climbed.

The saints will bring someone, but I think it will be only after the draft, for two reasons:

- Right now the market has vanished. Cam Newton and Jameis Winston are there, but will be commanding relatively high salaries even at a back up position. The market will be refreshed after the draft. Teams that pick rookie quarterbacks tend to released an experienced backup, and then we can take an opportunity that won't exist today.

- We only have five picks. If we can trade some of our current assets (not likely) or even trading down, then we may consider calling Miami and see if they are willing to do business with us.

So, it is my believe someone will come, but it won't happen until after the draft.

He’s not worth trading a pick for imo. Just wait for him to get cut after the draft.
Why are you certain they'd just cut a first round pick QB on a rookie contract just because they're going to likely draft one? They still need a backup to Fitzmagic and Tua (if they are the team to get him) may not get a full training camp in and be on PUP to start the season.

We could always trade future picks. I'd love to get Rosen and it'd be nice if he were to get cut after the draft, but he's still on a rookie deal through next season while Fitzmagic is on the last year of his deal this year.

I wouldn’t mind that at all. Think he has some potential, especially as a very capable back up.

The concerns surrounding him are overblown IMO. Unless anybody’s heard different he still participates in team activities n is on time for them. So it’s kinda presumptuous to question his heart

The guys been under terrible coaching staffs. He basically had a typical rookie season but by no fault of his own the new coaching staff chooses another direction. Thereafter he lands into an even worse dumpster fire. The jury is definitely still out. I’d give up a 7th for him. And I don’t think he’ll get cut
