I did a quick look on YouTube and didn't see anything that worked right away....not to mention those videos are generally hard to watch because the guys making them don't get right to the point. Wanted to see if anyone has a quick fix for this.

Son dug up an old fire TV we had upstairs and haven't used forever. We've changed routers since it was last used so won't connect to WiFi and remote won't connect (has new batteries). Any way to get that up and running? I can't find an hdmi-cec option on any of our tv's to control it via the TV remote. There's an hdmi-arc whatever that is. Any tips?

What did you do to try and re-pair the remote?

Can you temporarily wire your fire tv (via ethernet) to the network and then use the app on your phone to reset the wireless settings?

Tried holding the home button on remote for 10 seconds to pair and get nothing....just have the "network settings" screen on the TV because it wants me to connect it to our Network but can't without a remote....pretty dumb really.
I'd have to see if I have a network cable here to connect tv. Don't think I do but I'll look.

Don’t click the “home” button. Hold down the “select” button. The big round button in the middle.

I *just* did this last weekend. The “home” icon button didn’t work. But the select button did.

Tried that with no luck. Did find cec controls on my son's tv and the fire TV is listed but the remote won't control it. Gotta look it back up and see what I'm doing wrong.

Both of the methods with the remote can take several tries. Some people reported as many as 20 times.

I give up for now...have to mess with it later. I've tried holding each of them 50 times each I bet and nothing.

Actually just looked at the fire TV. It's an older one so doesn't have the Ethernet port on it. Our newer one has it but not this one.

what is the problem with the cec remote? We use ours on our bedroom fire stick...
