so I figured Central wouldn't be a high risk area but this is happening 5 miles from me

Overall, I have been pretty happy with our Governor. However, this needs to be stopped. Is he scared of offending his Catholic base, or doesn’t he have the right to shut these things down?

literally arguing with an idiot who is an EMS right now about the severity of this...says that the shutdown is just a power grab by the government and claims that the mortality rate in Italy is only .04% because he insists on using total population
right now Italy's mortality rate of those that have gotten it is 9.9% with over 50,000 yet to be determined. Recoveries only outpace deaths by less than 33%

To be fair mortality rate is based on total population. Case fatality rate is the number of deaths versus number of infected. So in this instance he is correct.

Thanks to everyone for all the information and updates... It's great to have all this in one place... you guys are awesome....

To everyone else here to make this political... Andrus has created an entire MB specifically for that...

Enjoy.

Catholic dioceses including New Orleans have complied with the no public service guideline. There are no public masses going on, though the priests are still offering mass privately. Some of the churches are locked. Some are occasionally open for private prayer, with signs reminding about social distancing.

FWIW, as it is currently stated, the mandates do not allow for stopping of people going to a church for private prayer. Obviously this story is not that.

Got mine yesterday. I thought it was ironic that he doesn't follow his own guidelines.

Did you catch California governor’s press conference a little earlier? One person at the podium at a time. The sign language person was in a PiP window in the corner of the screen and the press was remote phoning in their questions. And the information relayed was useful and given in such a way to calm people. Really professional and shows they are taking it seriously.

True, but I rarely have seen people use that version of mortality rate. Most people when they say mortality rate, they mean as a percentage of cases, not overall population.

When having a discussion it's good to be sure both sides agree on what the discussion pertains to.

In other words , we don’t got this,

Good. Nobody should be bashing him for this, it's a good thing he is asking for help to overcome shortcomings. If we had done the same with testing we could have avoided most of this.

Louisiana was better

They reach capacity at noon? Usually? Wow.
These are the FEMA "Pilot" sites that don't require prior clearance. You show up, they check for fever, and then test or not.
