Cap Space (1 Viewer)

Sorry but this is not counting:

M. Jenkins
Sanders
Peat
Burton
Hardee
J. Jenkins (restructure)

Sportrac has us at 18.9 million but isn't accounting for Onyemata, but overthecap is, which explains the difference.

My guess is most of the cap space is gone, the restructure of Jenkins was probably done in order to sign Sanders.

Roughly guessing $8 million for Peat, $5 million Jenkins and $5 million for Sanders, that's $18 million. Then the restructure got us back under 16 million total so we could sign everyone, including Burton and Hardee who probably figured into less than a half million in additional cap spaced above the minimum of the 51st player.

So I think we are done with free agency, other than a fringe player or two for depth and camp bodies.

If that’s the case I think Mickey still did a great job but I can see us picking up a Backup QB and a good Front 7 player

We have 16 million in Cap space...well lets not forget that we need dollars for Tay Hill before we dream of going big spending for other Free Agents.

We absolutely do not have $16 million in cap space, they haven't accounted for recent big signings (3 of them).

It's more like 2-3 million at best.

Over the cap has updated. The Saints have $9,134,439 in cap space.

The only one I think it's missing is Sanders. I'm not sure if we've seen the details of that yet. Averages 8mil but we know the Saints and they could have only 1 mil in 2020.

Taysom is already under contract. They may give him something longer but I don't think it would change that much.

It's tough to get an exact figure without studying all the specifics of the contract structures.

I believe Peat's cap number for 2020 with his new deal is incredibly low, because most of the money is in the signing bonus for the first few years, keeping the base salary low.

Brees also has a low base salary for 2020 with the way his deal is structured.

Probably what allowed Loomis to go and get Malcolm Jenkins, and Sanders along with the Janoris extension, Kiko and P-Rob restructures, and I believe Michael Thomas and Armstead had some of their cap figures shuffled around as well.

No, we will be around $6m after we hear the numbers on Sanders, Spence and Nichols. OTC has us just Over $9m before these signings. I’d guess that Sanders cap number will be $3Mish and Spence will most likely be the veteran $800K cap hit which would only add $150k to the cap. I’d also imagine that Nichols will cancel out another $677k that counts against the cap. So, Sanders ~$3m + $150k= $3.1m. So $9.1-$3.1= $6m in cap space.

Peat’s cap number in 2020 is $3.6M

I think we will see something done to extend Hill. The new CBA allows us to be creative with his deal. I can see it escalate drastically over the next 2 years. Something like, $5m in 2020, $8m in 2021, and starter type money like $15m in 2022. Lower the base in 2020 to $1m plus signing bonuses. My guess, 3 years, $28m with a $9m signing bonus and $16m guaranteed. It will Probably have an out after 2 years.

Man we are really kicking the can down the road.
I believe there is an out in the contract after Year 3, before it really escalates.

If he sees the back half of that deal he will have become consistent and earned it, if not they can release him for minimal cap hit before 2023.

Update on Noah Spence’s cap hit.

*$750,000 cap number for 2020
*Only counts $77,500 against our cap replacing Ethan Greenidge’s $677,500

Update...
So Emanuel Sanders cap charge for 2020 is $4m. We now sit right at $5m under the cap minus the PJ Williams and Cam Tom signings. However, I’d expect those deals to only add a few hundred thousand at most to our allotted cap space.

Thought I read that PJ was a 1 year deal at $2 million fully guaranteed.
