As I am watching Netflix, I began to think...with everyone working from home, and others being at home bored, not having much to do, I figure most everyone is using the internet in some way, shape or form ; with so many on at once, for long periods of time, is it possible for the internet to collapse if this continues for months on end?

The other day, I read that Netflix was asked to lower their streaming speed in Europe to keep the internet from breaking; are we to expect the same?

Nope. Netflix and YouTube have throttled their bitrates in some locations. Most ISPs have come out and said that while their peaks are up, their networks have the capacity. Most ISPs have allowed unlimited internet right now because there was never any sort of bandwidth limitations, it was always a cash grab. They will be able to handle the increased demand without much issue.

Clearly the correct answer
The internet was designed so that it would function even in the case where several nodes were under actual nuclear attack. The fact that we are still using this site is proof that the internet is definitely not broken. A few sites may be down, but in no way is the internet broken. Unless, of course, there is some meaning wherein being "broken" means a few sites are down. In that case, the internet is always broken.
