Drew Brees is obviously better than Aaron Rodgers when it comes to quarterback play. I have a friend who swears Rodgers is better due to efficiency and clutch play. I know Brees has the most game winning drives of all time, but can anyone provide me with all of the comparative stats to shut him up? I don't have time to research every little stat but I'm hoping someone else has had a similar argument where they've had to pull the stats? Playoffs and regular season would help to prove a point. Not just passer rating etc, (I'm sure Aaron Rodgers has the better rating due to lack of picks) but other things like blown game wining drives due to defense and stuff like that. Maybe tight window throw percentage etc?

To prove your point on efficiency just ask him to look at who holds the completion percentage record and whose record was broken last year.

Those stats are widely available for anyone who wants to know. The fact that your friend insists on disagreeing with you shows that he's not interested is knowing the truth. It's best to move on because no one has ever convinced the willfully ignorant.

Rodger's efficiency is a sham because of sack aren't included in efficiency numbers.

When it is said and done. Rodgers is gonna be the most sacked QB in history.

To make those stats more correct, we need to clarify that Brees played in 184 games during that span and Rodgers played in 174 games. Basically, stats that are based on averages or percentages won't change but most of the ones based on totals will end up becoming a smaller lead for whomever was leading before adjusting that total to an average, the outlier being Rodgers' woeful sack total which ends up becoming an even bigger lead for Brees.

Also, while I realize it seems apples-to-apples on the surface using identical time frames, it's not quite since Brees' time frame starts once he's already in his prime with far better numbers than he had in his first 5 seasons. I think the most sensible way to cut through the bullshirt and compare them equally is to eliminate each of their first three seasons and go from there since, by then, each of them were full time starters. Yeah, Brees was already starting full time by season 2 but he inherited a 5-11 team while Rodgers got to study behind one of the game's greatest, Brett Favre, for 3 years and inherited a 13-3 team that was an OT period away from the Super Bowl.

With all that out of the way, here are their respective career averages from each of their careers from their 4th seasons to present.

I'm not completely sure what's a more accurate indicator of who's a better QB, TDs/INTs per game or TD/INT% so I included both. Also, they both have a stat where their victory is completely hollow, anyway, since the "losers" in those categories still had numbers at least 99.4% as good as the "winners", Brees' hollow victory being in TD per game and Rodgers' being in YPA.

Overall, we have a 6-6 tie. Furthermore, since the amounts by which these categories were won and lost varied so wildly (some almost tied while others were blowouts) we could assign points to the winner of each stat based on their ratio against the loser. This is what the numbers in the column on the far right are. The final totals are tallied at the bottom.

2010-2019 cumulative QB rating, which isn't a great stat, Brees is 2.20 higher than Rodgers. I think most of those who voted would've told you Rodgers would be ahead by a landslide. But Brees has dominated Rodgers the past three years: +6.70, +18.10, and +20.90. Brees average for the ten years was 103.8, Rodgers 103.6

This one is slightly dated (before the 2018 season) but I know it hasn’t changed much. I know it went to at least 0-37.

Nevertheless, show him that and watch his head explode trying to explain why his great Rodgers can’t lead comebacks against actual good teams and can only beat the bums. ?

This one is slightly updated but still from before last season. I don’t like site but the numbers are accurate, he had 14 career 4th quarter comebacks before adding 2 last year. If you want to **** your friend off more, make him guess the teams that Rodgers led the two comebacks against... yup, the 3-12-1 Lions. ?? Not to mention he threw what should’ve been a game losing INT in that Week 16 game until the Lions went full Lions.

Not only is Rodgers 0-37 when trailing teams with a winning record in the fourth quarter, he’s also tied — with Trent Dilfer — for 75th with 14 career fourth-quarter comebacks. That figure ranks 15th among active NFL quarterbacks. Additionally, Rodgers is 5-23 against winning teams since 2012 — the same record as Kirk Cousins. Comparatively, Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) is 26-21 against winning teams since 2012. Marcus Mariota (Tennessee Titans) is 12-11 since 2015; and Andy Dalton (Cincinnati Bengals) is 21-31-1 since 2011.

I would like to see the stats adjusted by all the times late in a game Brees lead a comeback to a go ahead drive then the defense lost the game.

This is a big determinant of Brees legacy. He was paired with bad or unclutch defenses in NO and that especially hurt in the playoffs and chances to get the rings that the national sports narrative setters care about.

Brees has had 40+ "game winning" drives when the D gave up scores to pull out a loss.
He has 2x as many games of that type than any other QB!

Sadly, you could argue that this is the defining stat of this era that determined the legacy and the number of championships.

We all know there's bias here and for the life of me I can't figure out why the Rogers love. I bet if you can poll the teammates of each of these two you know who is better.
