Tommy Stevens Pick (1 Viewer)

I think at some point it has become the plan and I like it. It plays well for the SAINTS and should get Taysom's attention.
All I mean is, "Sign the Darn Tender Taysom. It's 2 years $21 million dollars. What did you think that someone would offer you $40 million a year ? Sign the Darn Tender Already". Let move forward here. If he doesn't sign the Tender in about a week now. I would pull it. Then someone will sign him to be their swiss knife and after 2 years his opportunity to be a starting quarterback will have passed.
Sign the Darn Tender Taysom, or come sit next to me and every other Fan.

I thought he already has signed it.

Now I'm understanding jumping back in to pick Tommy Stevens. Dose anyone feel it was their plan to sign Taysom and try to use Tommy Stevens to the Taysom role after he becomes the starting QB?

i think that he could be used in some parts of that role. But what I really think they are hoping is that he develops into a number two with similar playing style. With Taysom projected to be the starter soon, Payton is going to design this offense to look very different to play to Hills strengths. It will be more fluid, should something happen to Hill to have a similar QB step in. A traditional drop back QB would need a completely different playbook and every position would have to adjust.

look at who Baltimore went with as a backup. RG3.

I don't think you make any roster plans based on a 7th round pick. He was an athlete they like and might have a role. Just a roll of the dice.
As opposed to planning around an older undrafted
free agent steal from another teams cast offs?

Nobody did before & now the role is already there. It's time to build the position like any other.
He fits the system, no need to "develop" a game plan.

If Stevens makes the 53 man roster it'll probably be as a special teams player. That would help to take some snaps off of Hill's legs and justify having 4 quarterbacks on the roster. He might make the roster but not the 53. I'm not sure if they'll risk trying to move him to the practice squad.

you really think that SP doesn’t have plans for some plays that fit Hills style? That is a very old minded coach you are trying to make him out to be - the ones that kept their system and forced players to fit it. The best coaches these days design the plays with the players in mind.
