I thinking about putting in some landscape lighting. I've read a lot on-line, but there are tons of options & such. The brand most swear by is Volt. They make quality stuff, but they are also the most expensive. I don't mind the investment....I'm not getting cheap junk. Wondering how the install went, too. How many lights can be on one "run"? Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

We put the low voltage stuff in years ago. Can’t remember the brand but it’s from Lowe’s. The number of lights depends on the size transformer you get. We have 4 spotlights that shine up the house and about 6-8 landscape lights all on 1 wire.

The install was easy enough. The biggest issue I have is in the winter ants get into the lights, I assume looking for warmth. I’ve had 2 flood lamps destroyed by this.

Move up here and your ants will freeze and die :hihi:

The longer the run, the less voltage running the length.

So depends on the bulb wattage... But they have LED bulbs now that are fantastic for landscape. Instead of a 300 w transformer to run 3 50w and 7 20 w bulbs over 70 ft run, u can get a 100 w transformer and led bulbs that use 1/10 of the wattage. Saving money on the transformer.

Thicker Guage wire will hold voltage better too if long run. But more expensive.

I have Malibu brand from Lowes and it does the trick just fine.

I did have to tunnel under my walkway. That was absolutely horrid experience. I would pay someone to cut, remove and re pave. Red clay and water make for a nightmarish hell. And I forgot about suction as I tried to remove the 4 ft metal conduit pipe. Darn near tore out my spine getting that thing out from under.

We just moved in this year to a new place with zero landscaping. I'm still in the drawing things out on paper stage, but Iwill eventually install landscape lighting once I get it all figured out. I am leaning towards Volt due to the numerous recommendations and lighting options.

I used the deck dots from this site on my patio , used pvc as the mounting tube with lights being flush with stone

small transformer, thin wire - have maybe 10 lights

they have remote switch and brightness levels

I haven’t looked I to landscape lighte

Post photos, if possible. I'd love to pick up ideas.
