The Mandalorian discussion thread (8 Viewers)

Has anyone watched the docuseries yet? Just listening to Filoni talk about Star Wars in general is pretty enlightening.

He's the one that understands it better than anyone else at Lucasfilm. He has the absolutely unique position of being a hard core fan that then got taken under Lucas' wing and got to spent\d like 8 years working very closely with him, learning the ins and outs, etc. To me he is the torch bearer and it's no coincidence the projects he's involved with (Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian) are the ones that feel most authentic.

In the second episode, he talks about the story arc from Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, and not only did I realize how much he 'gets it,' but it made me want to go back and watch those again.

Probably wishful thinking, but I hope somehow Mando/Baby Yoda team up with Ahsoka/Rex in their search for Ezra. Maybe even a bit of Sabine Wren helping Mando regain control of the darksaber. Too Rebels-like but definitely would be interesting. My excitement for Boba is mostly secondary to that.

Yeah, his breakdown of how the entire story hinges on that one lightsaber battle in The Phantom Menace and what ultimately happens because of it is the most eloquent explanation of what Star Wars is I've ever heard. And he covers it all in like 8 minutes. This docuseries has been really good so far but that was the shining moment. He explains it so well and so passionately that even all the other directors around the table are transfixed.

Supposedly there's an animated series in development about Sabine and Ahsoka looking for Ezra in the Unknown Regions. Absolutely nothing has been confirmed so far but hints have been dropped and lots of pretty detailed rumors abound. Filoni is only directing one Mandalorian episode this season but has implied he's deeply involved in working on something else, so it seems likely.

That said, earlier today some relatively trustworthy rumor monger types claimed that Sabine would also be showing up with Ahsoka and Rex in Mando season 2. So we'll see.

Some really exciting stuff happening around this show, esp after an awesome S1.
Just so fortunate that they already have shot the entire second season, so it is quite possible there will be no delays for the premiere date of S2.

This was widely expected based on things she'd hinted at and the ending to season 1, but Slashfilm has pretty much confirmed that Katee Sackhoff will be playing live action Bo-Katan in Season 2.

So if reports are true (and all indications are they are), we're getting Ahsoka, Sabine, Rex, Boba Fett, and Bo-Katan in the next season. Insane. Although to temper expectations a bit, sources have said that the Clone Wars/Rebels squad probably won't be around for more than an episode, so don't expect them to hang around as major characters.
