I heard a rumor that, no matter what the state does, Orleans will still not move into phase 2 for a matter of 'months' despite having flattened the curve about as far as it can go absent a vaccine. Get ready. The economic fallout from that is going to take us down a pretty dark path IMO.

Honestly, I think it's going to be a pretty dark path no matter what. Even if we were 100% open, I don't think our tourist based economy is going to be very productive. I just can't see enough people from around the country being able to afford vacations or really wanting to head to a place like New Orleans for vacations right now. I suspect that most who will be taking vacations this summer will want something less crowded and more outside.

But, hopefully the City will move toward the state model for Phase One starting soon. And then maybe we can start to see what we can expect from tourism with the Casino's partially open. I know a few weeks ago Open Table was reporting that reservations were down 90% or so. I assume that number is going down, but I wonder how far down the numbers are?

Not a good enough reason to stay in Phase I when the stated metrics for leaving Phase I have all been met. For weeks now.

And with the rest of the state moving to Phase 2, including JP, St Tammany and St Bernard.... it's just cutting off our nose to spite our face.

I didn't say it was a reason to stay in Phase I. I'm just saying that I'm not sure if even moving to Phase III or lifting all restrictions are going to help restart our tourist based economy as long as the virus is out there.

The Govna said Louisiana will move to Phase 2 on Friday. He said we're doing good overall as a state. He did warn that we won't be back to full normal until a vaccine is widely distributed.
