Beyond Light is pretty good. To get exotics you have to solo lost sectors. Erania's (SP) Vow is awesome for this.

i am having trouble getting back into D2...the story was fine but everything else just feels the same...I understand why they vaulted everything but it wasn’t really good for the game...sunsetting was also a terrible idea

Yep. D2 was far inferior to D1, but it oddly got even worse when Bungie broke away from Activision. They needed to Activision money to make more content and they don't have that option now. They really just need to make a D3 and start over in he new generation of consoles.
