In order to earn his Superbowl Victory Brees had to beat 3 first Ballot HOF QBs. Two of em Favre and Manning were the two most prolific passers of all time until recently.

It will be cool to see what other tidbits or factoids others will come up with.

People forget how dominant the Vikings and Colts were that season. The Vikings only lost 1 game through the first 11 weeks and the Colts could've gone undefeated. Those two were blasting teams all season.

Yep to add onto this the Saints went through the 10-6 Cardinals and 2 time MVP Kurt Warner and 12-4 Vikings with 3 time MVP Brett Favre to get to the Super Bowl.

The Colts went through the 9-7 Ravens led by second year QB Joe Flacco and the 9-7 Jets led by rookie QB Mark Sanchez.

Brees might be the only Saint QB in history to once have thrown four TD passes in a game against the Saints. How? That 2004 beatdown the Brees Chargers put on the Haslett Saints ;)

Ken Stabler and Billy Kilmer apparently join Brees.

Only 18 QB's 40 have thrown 4+ Td's against the Saints. Eli, Matt Ryan, Steve Young and Jeff Garcia (!!!) have done it twice. Some pretty surprising names on there with Mariota, Bortles, Beureline but even more surprising is a name that didn't show up. That Joe something or other that used to play for San Francisco. Joe Magtenga or something like that? Crazy.

Oh and both Manning's have thrown for 6 Td's in a single game against the Saints along with Charley Johnson (I'm sure he's probably related to the Mannings in some way. Probably a long lost cousin or something).

Drew Brees had his best 4 game stretch of his entire career at the end of the 2019 season, only 11 days removed from his 41st birthday.

15 TDs, 0 Int, 75+% completion, 8.6 ypa, 137.0 QB Rating

Ah, yes. That ‘79 blown lead against the Raiders when Stabler was still in Oakland. Not one that many older fans want to remember!

Yep I was devastated watching it, Saints looked like they were showing the nation on MNF that we were a team to be reckoned with. Instead it derailed our playoff aspirations.

I think it was a Muncie fumble in our territory that allowed them to score the winning TD.

I was but four years old at the time, but I’ve read enough about it. Muncie was a beast — when he felt like it — but X-and-O-wise,
you could put it on the defense for folding like a tent. But overall it just wasn’t quite the same “team culture” you see now. Lots of drug abuse and such.

That was a painful memory
