Can’t think of a better way if the Lord is ready to take me lol

Well, you wouldn't die in the stadium. You'd die a few weeks later in a hospital as the virus turns your lungs to a combination of ground glass and blood and drowns you from the inside out. You'd also die alone without getting to say goodbye to your family because you'd be quarantined.

Even if numbers go down miraculously in the next couple of months..say almost gone in New Orleans..you still have travelers crossing state lines to come to the game. I think I’ll grab a six pack and watch it on the TV this year as much as I’d like to attend.

A. I am not going to sign a waiver or any acknowledgement of risks.

B. My position will be that if the Saints require execution of a waiver or acknowledgement of risks for admission, that requirement is an admission by the league that game attendance carries substantial risk.

C. The longer I have to wait for the option to be offered, the more likely I will be to demand an immediate refund rather than allow the team to keep my money as payment for 2021 tickets.

This is a very interesting post. Thx much!

So let's pretend they have games in the Dome where social distancing is minimal. Just think about us crazies screaming at the top of our lungs play after play. Whoever has the virus, especially ones who don't have symptoms, will be spraying virus toxins far beyond 6 feet.

Would we all have to wear masks? Masks help but are no guarantee.

Then you have the best science we have to this point that thinks it doesn't kill healthy young people, just damages their lungs some - or a lot and very possibly permanently.

But all the data says this is quite deadly to many who have pre-existing conditions. So us fans if we have: obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and any other condition would legitimately take their lives in their hands by going to a game.

That's some serious stuff to decide and I have no answers. I'm kinda hoping the NFL goes to no fans to take that element out of risk. Golf is doing just fine without fans. The other side will be the Wednesday injury report. Besides sprained ACLs, we fans will be sitting with bated breath waiting to see the Coronovirus team report. I dearly want the distraction of the season, but this is complex and very high risk.

There is a thread on the EE board about Covid. It's chock full of information. Latest research shows gatherings indoors such as churches
contribute greatly to the spread.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed that the Saints management chose to sweep my credit card for the second (final) payment for this years season - especially without even discussing alternatives for what may happen.

The team keeps trying to march towards the season as if nothing has happened, and their sycophants on the radio barely mention the impact to the fans.

Several weeks back I got an enthusiastic email from my season ticket rep (another new one this year), who was "just touching base" to see if there was anything I needed, or anything she could do for me.

I replied that I was not happy with the teams decisions to just ignore the pandemic and plow full steam ahead. I did not expect a response.

She actually called me, and offered to postpone my second payment until June 12th, when they expected an "announcement about a plan that would give us an idea of what may take place". I didn't think they would have an answer by then, but gracefully thanked her for postponing the payment. She assured me that doing so would not jeopardize my tickets.

So - what happens next? They sweep my account for the money on the previously announced date!

I called back and ask for her, get another rep on the phone. "Since we are working remotely it's impossible for me to transfer you to her" - understandable, so I explain... "I'm so sorry sir - I'll immediately refund that payment, and schedule it again for June 12th".

WELL - that never happened either. I didn't even bother to try again, as by then we were approaching June 12th, and it didn't matter - since obviously the y still don't know what's going to happen.

It's NOT about the money. I can afford to have them hold my money interest free. It's about the PRINCIPAL & the ETHICS of the organization. They don't give a DAMN about ME, they just care about money.

It's obvious to every football fan that season ticket holders will NOT be able to attend 10 games this season. But the NFL and the SAINTS are going to grab that money and begrudgingly hold on to it for dear life - regardless of the image or impact on others.

At this point I have NO interest in attending this season - but I don't want to lose my tickets, or the possibility of attending the playoffs if the situation is right - so they have me over a barrel, and don't really care.

So there are countries who jumped on prevention early and mitigated risk and have very low numbers
Many of those countries have their sports but no fans in attendance

But us anti-mask, pro-muh freedom I do what I want crowd - with numbers spiking in most states (and out of control in football heavy states); we think we get to go see our sports live?
There is so much cognitive dissonance it’s hard to see any cognition at all

HAD we worn masks and socially distanced from jump, we MIGHT have been able to have attended Fall sports
But no
And I can almost guarantee that those who expect to just waltz into the dome in September have done very little responsible due diligence in regards to public health

I don't see it posted, but here's the email I received on Friday regarding this subject:

Dear (SoggyBottomBoy's real name),

We hope you and your family are safe and healthy as we navigate these unprecedented times. Since the very beginning of this pandemic, we have been working with healthcare professionals, government leaders, the National Football League, ASM Global, industry experts and others to ensure that when we returned to play your experience will be as safe as possible. While we have been working on safety procedures and protocols that would allow us to safely host games with full attendance, we have also been working on countless scenarios to host games that may include limited fan attendance, should the prevailing healthcare guidance require us to do so.

As you might have read, the NFL announced this week that each team's individual attendance policy will be dictated by state, local and CDC guidance. These policies will be flexible in order to account for changing conditions and health and safety requirements as we progress through the NFL season. We will continue to work closely with our government leaders and healthcare professionals over the coming weeks to prepare for the 2020 NFL season and to determine what the initial attendance policies will be for the beginning of our season. Of course, our hope is to begin the season with full attendance, however, the health and safety of our fans, stadium and team staff, players, coaches and other participants will ultimately determine how many fans we will be able to accommodate throughout the season.

As a reminder, while we do not anticipate the cancelation of any games, should a cancelation occur you will be entitled to your choice of a refund or credit towards future ticket purchases. In addition, we will be reaching out shortly to request more information regarding your preferences for attending games should a partial attendance policy be implemented for any of our 2020 NFL season games. As always, should you have any questions please contact your Ticket Representative by email or call (504)731-1700.

Thanks to you, we have the greatest home field advantage in sports and have earned the ranking of Best Fan Experience in the NFL for the past three seasons. We are doing everything we can to safely welcome you back to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this season. Your health and safety, and that of your fellow fans, is our first consideration, and we are committed to providing you the best, and safest, fan experience in the NFL. Our team will continue to keep you updated on all possible scenarios as they become available.

Thank you, and stay safe!

Hey Guido!

Good stuff as always from you. A friend of mine is one of the better psychologists around with 22 books published. Just a brilliant, insightful, wise, loving man. Lmao - I paid him enough over the years before he retired!

He has a view I have not quite heard yet. He says that consumer-based societies are driven by getting people addicted to buying lots of things and purchasing many distracting activities to not deal with fear or stress or frustration. Per Karl, that's what makes our economy tick. It creates a constant need for us to find happiness and distraction external. When the economy shut-down, very few of us have the emotional and mental skills to deal effectively with isolation -we can't buy or distract our way out of this threat and isolation. So, when many of us feel afraid and insecure, we respond externally by acting tough or mean or angry or all three. So a lot of the no mask stuff is not independence or freedom, its fear and stress, fear and stress which we are all feeling.

I personally agree with you nearly 100%. However, at extraordinary times like this, Karl says that it will help us all if we try to be compassionate and understanding of other differing opinions and actions. He said what makes that challenging is that the independent behavior risks the lives of others, but he said to try and understand these are not heroes or tough people. These are people afraid and insecure like the rest of us or people who truly have such deep conviction they are willing to take the risk.

Whether we like this or not, we are all in this together. That virus has no discrimination whatsoever - none. And now that science seems to be discovering that the virus causes lung and even brain damage in people who are asymptomatic, we really are all in this together. And bless all of you, every single one! Take care. The Saints will win another SB and I want every Who Dat to get to see that victory! - d

btw: 1 week ago, I bought an "Alfred E Neuman for President - Just Go Mad," bumper sticker, just to try and get people to laugh a little and loosen-up. It's worked so far. I hope that continues. Laughter and Saints wins are our greatest Who Dat drugs!

i can buy that
anxiety is often stress caused by things we cannot control
the constant battle of no information, bad information and misinformation is obviously anxiety inducing
in such times we default to our comfort positions and respond to the 'news' that gives us comfort - not a great place to be for conspiracy theorists
had leadership come out and said, 'hey this is legit, we have to make some big time adjustments for a few months, but then we'll be able to manage (like most of the rest of the civilized world did)

i do understand the anxiety - and how weird/stressful the first couple of months was like
but at this point, effect measures are obvious as are bad actions - good, accurate information is out there. we have the responsibility be well informed citizens and act ethically from that information

i'm glad you found Karl
sounds like a good dude

I would go unless I felt the Lord telling me otherwise.
