If I'm driving the process, I'm worried that a black person would view me as yet another white guy controlling the narrative, which I don't want to happen.
This is exactly how I feel about it. And @guidomerkinsrules made some good points in his post. But I don't necessarily fully agree with his take. I mean I always try to improve myself in terms of being educated on racial and societal issues and to be better and more understanding about it. Ten years ago I would have thought getting rid of Dixie was PC run amock. I think I have a good handle on how to improve my own worldview, but I don't know that I'm comfortable telling others how to do that in their own lives. That's the part I'd leave to the people that we want to lift up.
