Well, here are the Louisiana Department of Education's school reopening guidelines.

And here's the article I got that link from.

My sister teaches at Franklin. I really am worried about her getting sick from her students once school reopens.
My girl is a teacher as well. They are going full force in August. Really worried about her catching something because she has asthma...

Someone called me hyperbolic way back in the thread when I said America was closer to a failed state than an exceptional superpower. There was zero hyperbole in that statement. This is what a dying former superpower looks like.

Sadly, history says we are likely overdue.

Our government spends $2 trillion, the equivalent of two disastrous Iraq wars over only three months just to throw its hands up and say "welp, what're you gonna do?" JFC. Burn it all down.

We already did. This is what you get when you elect people who don't believe in government to run the government. It's a smoldering ruin and now we need it to function.

Guess what, Reaganites? You done drowned it in the bathtub. Ya happy now?

Yes. I just donated blood at an Oschner bloodmobile and they will do an antibody test - though they said it will take 10 days to get my results. And I still think the antibody tests are a crapshoot.

But it was free and I know they are low on blood donations so WTH.

Its also a good way to find out your blood type if you don't know (I have no idea what mine is) as there have been some reports that certain blood types fare better against COVID than others.

Got my results back and it was negative for antibodies. 😶

Probably a stretch here and being glass half full for kids likely headed back into school in a month. I haven't seen or read about any outbreaks in Covid-19 in day care facilities. A lot are still open for essential workers child care. Has anyone else?

Hey, I'm perfectly okay with the idea of having us wear face masks for years just as long as we can have fans in the Superdome for Saints games this season.
But just don't expect us to break any decibel records for crowd noise in 2020. :hihi:

The article may require a subscription but here’s a tease. This just Texas not the whole country.

Texas’ day care centers have reported a total of 950 coronavirus cases, marking an increase of 540 cases in less than two weeks.

The latest count includes 643 staff members and 307 children at 668 licensed child care centers, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission reported Tuesday.

Until recently, day care centers had remained relatively insulated. On May 21, Texas had reported only 67 coronavirus cases in licensed facilities, according to KVUE-TV in Austin.

Here in Baton Rouge units that we had closed for weeks are now opening back up again as the numbers trend upward. Ran out of Covid ICU beds so another unit had to be reopened. Not looking forward to those 72 hr work weeks again.

Wear a mask in public, wash your hands, and stay away from selfish people. Godspeed to us all.

At what point here does hospital/ICU space become an issue in the states?

I could recall the panic button being pushed within a couple of weeks during the first outbreak phase, yet this time around, it does not seem to be as big of a focus.
