Sitting on the porch when it’s raining (1 Viewer)

Always lived in a 1-story house but up the street had a friend who lived in a 2-story double house (can't think of the right term right now) with a balcony off her bedroom. It was fun to grab blankets and sheets and sleep out on the porch with only bugs to worry about (as opposed to any predators we may deal with sleeping outside on the ground). Always wanted to have one as an adult where you could bug proof it but still have the pleasure of sleeping outside.
I believe it's called a screen porch...

When I would visit my granny in Michigan during summer breaks, I would love to do this!

Back on the porch
I am certainly not complaining about the days long rain showers we keep having- much better than weeks long 100s heat index days

We got the heat here. Pretty much every day for the last 10 days the heat index has been 100-110. Still better than getting in your car and seeing the thermometer read -4. I'm good with anything outside Jan-March.

Snow can be so nice. Especially at night. If it's coming down heavy it mutes the sound so that everything is so quiet.

I love the snow. It makes things so cozy and in a heavy snowstorm the world outside just stops by for awhile and has to relinquish to the silence. One of nature's ways of saying "stop what you're doing and look outside"

When it's so quiet you can hear the snow as it lands.

I love the look of freshly fallen snow before there is any footprints, plowing or shoveling, before the snow has fallen off the tree branches

Just a blanket of white

Everything looks like a calendar picture

I also love the “smell” of fresh snow

Hard to describe, just fresh and clean I guess

Not being in Montana this summer I’m missing the nightly thunderstorms that roll across the prairies. My moms house has a huge window where we could sit inside because of the massive amounts of ground to cloud lightning and watch it break loose.
But, my favorite is still the huge spring snowstorms with the gigantic snowflakes that float down. Usually no wind with those, just massive floating snowflakes.

We recently had our house built and one if the things we insisted on was a front porch. The front porch is small, but has morning shade so nice to sit on in the morning and we can sit on the large back porch in the evening. Its disappointing how many houses don't have front porches these days.

If more people had front porches, there would be no more war.

My great aunt's house in Bay Saint Louis has a huge back porch that used to be screened but they closed it in for more living area. It's a really cool place to sit and watch/listen to the rain. It's all windows, so you can open a bunch of them up and get the wind gusts and hear it rather well. I've always been a fan of being nice and dry while watching a good downpour.
