Federal Unemployment set to expire July 31? (1 Viewer)

If we believe the experts that said protests did not cause outbreaks/spread then bars can operate outdoors provided they follow social distancing. The rest is logistics that a bar would need to figure out. Perhaps they only open at night, masks required and maybe you might have to limit how many people can be there. Its either that or stay closed.

So you are asking that each bar owner, whose sole revenue stream is from serving as many patrons as many drinks as possible, police themselves
There is another challenge for bars...for a lot of people, once they get a few drinks in they wont give a damn about masks or social distancing

liquid courage

Looking like this too will be a disaster with an easy solution that everyone will contort themselves to ignore

They dont have a choice, you cant have "business as usual." Its either that or stay closed until a vaccine happens. The question was, what would a bar have to do to remain open? That is the only way they could possibly remain open is to move the entire place of consumption to a controlled outside area with guidelines inplace.

How realistic is that? Probably not very but if the virus has as much trouble as we believe it does spreading outdoors, its the only way at the moment.

That's a whole other thing about how min wage, gov't stimulus, etc isn't factored in with cost of living in localities. The only gov't program I'm aware of that does this is the Per Diem values. Maybe there is a federal housing list for Military that does similar.
Yeah, military housing allowance (BAH) is based on zip code.

did you read? what is the fix?

I did... didn't come here to debate it.... just to pass along the information.... Sounds like he offered a one week extension to the benefits to give both sides more time to come to an "agreement".

Since it doesn't impact me, and I despise all politics and politicians... I have no dog in this fight.... just passing along because it was pertinent to this thread.

yeah so its not a "fix" its a week extension in hopes the Rs and Ds can come to some sort of agreement. So not sure how this is pertinent to the current discussion here....because its merely a dog and pony show at this point.

Trump didnt offer any "fix" other than to ask for week extension in hopes the 2 sides will come to an agreement. Yet his own Chief of Staff says he doesnt see an agreement next week.

So we are exactly where we were 1 hour ago. lol

Agreed that an extension is not a fix.... Disagreed that this news is not relevant to this subject and thread - since benefits are set to expire today and "some extra time with benefits" is better than "indefinite time without benefits"... and future extensions can be added if needed. Also agreed that since the extension was not put into place, we are right where we were.

Pretty much. I would think most of those collecting the benefits would take a temporary extension while they work on a "fix" as opposed to nothing, which is what we currently have.

I don't feel a week extension would help anything because it is only the fire of the deadline that gets any action. they would be in the exact spot they are in now but 7 days later. At the same time, I don't think a real long term bill is in order either. Do it 6 weeks at a time maybe.

I do think that the long term answer needs to be to cover those who can't get work as well as incentiving those who do return.

During the two-hour meeting at the Capitol, Trump's team offered a weeklong extension. But Democrats have so far rejected a piecemeal approach, saying the next relief bill needs to move as a complete package. The sides agreed to talk again Friday and into the weekend.

Not really a 'fix', more so a 'punt'.

So you are saying Dr’s are experimenting on people, and defrauding everyone? I guess then, it makes all of your medical concerns going forward easier.
yep. straight from a, let me rephrase an md anderson esteemed, doctor's mouth.

cold hearted vajayjay.

Y’all this is not good. There needs to be a deal by end of week or we become a 3rd world country. The ones that are ok ? What are you going to do when the stock market crashes to nothing? Congress needs to act now.
