Thought it would be fun to compare the numbers of these three top tier QBs. In an offseason were Jackson and Mahomes have garnered most of the media attention, Drew has been under the Radar. Jackson and Mahommes are without a doubt great and the fact Drew's numbers are up there with them is a testament to him. Here are the 2019 stats.

Brees 11 games started

2927 yards passing 27TD. 4 INT 7.9 Y.A. 74 Percent completion 116 rating

Mahomes 14 games started

4031 yards passing 26TD 5 INT 8.3 Y.A
65 Percent completion 105 rating

Lamar Jackson 15 games started

3127 yards passing 36 TD 6 INT 7.8 Y.A
66 Percent completion 113 rating

Good post by the OP.

With Drew's offseason upper body strength conditioning... I believe he's going to be "money!"

Action Jackson and "Mahomme Boy" will do their thing. But after it all shakes out, the Saints will show themselves to be the best overall TEAM (offense, defense and special teams).

WhoDat!!!

Mahomes and Jackson are 'the future'.

Drew is the storied veteran who at some point soon will become 'the past'.

I’ll point out the obvious. You have to include Jackson’s rushing stats to actually approach a fair comparison.

but You have to include one more obvious and that is, the more hits you take the more your durability comes into play. Those guys are the future and they are exciting. But we can’t forget that there have been similar QBs before and that durability was a major factor in their ability to finish seasons consistently and the overall length of their careers. So I do think the pocket QB is more dinosaur than ever, it remains to be seen if it’s gone forever

I give them both 5 years of doing what they do before their bodies break down from the punishment.
At that time they will both have to go the route of Cam and become pocket passers.

Of the two I believe Mahomes is more than capable. Jackson is what he is and if you take his running threat out of the equation he's not a good enough passer (at the moment) to compete on a high level without the risk of him taking off down the field.

Now saying that, the chiefs will have to completely rebuild their team when that happens and invest heavily in their o-line to protect Mahomes.

Of the two, I think the Chiefs have one more Super Bowl in them before they have to blow the team up.

Mahomes is the best going forward. I think he is the perfect mixture of a balanced Pocket/Running QB. He only runs when he needs to versus being heavily relied upon to run the ball like Lamar. Lamar is great at what he does, but as mentioned the hits will start to take a toll on his body as time goes on. Unless he can learn to become more of a pocket passer I don’t see his career being as long as Mahomes.

Wilson has done it for more than 5 years and I agree that Mahomes is more capable of being a pocket passer than Jackson. Let's see how Jackson does now that teams have a year of film to study.

It's the Steve Young mold that works when it comes to QB mobility. Wilson has it and Mahomes is the latest with it. QBs who run down field are masking their inability to play QB with their athletic ability. We've seen it over and over. Most of them can throw bombs and hit a receiver in stride. Heck, even make a few great throws. But in the end, in the playoffs, defenses catch up and contain. You have to be able to make your reads and put the ball, not your feet, downfield. Vick, RGIII, Kaep, Newton, Watson, etc. the list goes on. Blocking for these guys is a nightmare because they make up their own dance in the pocket. You can't create an efficient and consistent offense with a guy ad-libbing every play. It works in the short term because they are so athletic and at an advantage with the threat of throwing downfield. But then age starts settling in.

Wilson was always inspired by Drew. He didn't aspire to be the next Michael Vick. He aspired to be the next Drew Brees, and it has surely paid off. I hope thats what the FO sees in Winston. He's been humbled enough to take the contract with the Saints, get the eye surgery and take a season or two to improve his QB skills. I'd take that any day over the next flashy "QB" with fast legs.

I’m very interested in this Winston deal. He has the skills, he just needs the right Sensei (Brees) to help his career take off. For a QB to do what Winston did, hats off to him for that.
