Pilots report "guy in a jet pack" at 3K feet above LAX (2 Viewers)

We may get to find out who this “guy” was.

The craziest thing to me is 3,000 feet seems really high for a jet pack - like I think you would have to know what you're doing, but then if you did, why would you be in the landing pattern above LAX? Crazy.
The air is a little cooler at that altitude. :grin:
 
If I had a jetpack with those capabilities, and someday I hope I do, I wouldn't be buzzing planes at an airport but I would definitely end up with a thread on here dedicated to at least 1 of my shenanigans.

Because the guy new what he was doing. I think you answered your own question!

Probably Frank Zapata, the originator. But there are other wing type jet packs that allows a person to fly at a speed of around 150mph. Youtube it. Many videos. The technology is rapidly evolving. And if anyone thought the expanding drone technology was dangerous, it is nothing compared to the technology being advanced in jet packs.

I wouldn't be at 3000 feet unless I had absolute faith in my fuel gauge. I remember the days of shaking my motorcycle to see how much gas it had, or riding down the road and hearing the engine sputter. I go to reach down and flip the lever to reserve and....oops! Forgot to switch back to main the last time I did it and now I've been running on reserve :covri:

Might not be no damn reserve in that jetpack and the consequences are much more dire than pushing a motorcycle to the nearest gas station :hihi:
