I think he was going to have a good amount of playing time regardless. He had a really nice rookie season. Looking forward to seeing him progress.

Boy... Davenport is a real disappointment. Starting the season with a hole at DE is not ideal.

I believe Davenport will end up on IR... and that’s why they tried so hard for Clowney

But if that’s the case, what’s the plan B? I can’t imagine they’d just stand pat after putting all the eggs in the Clowney basket. If you really expect Davenport to be unavailable, and you had 10mil plus a second round pick to spent on Clowney, I’m sure you could spend some lesser portion of that to acquire an upgrade on Trey Hendrickson, or at least someone to form a rotation/committee with him?

IR is different this year, players can return after 3 weeks and there is no limit of how many players return. So it's a good sign they didn't place him there already, must believe he won't miss too much time.

If that were the case, Loomis would've come off of that extra 2 million

Not good for Davenport, but he's coming back from Linsfrac. I for one came into this season expecting him to miss some time early for that injury.

All hope is not lost. There's still 3 days til kickoff.
