Well this year we let an ascending player with great chemistry with the secondary in Bell walk in favor of a guy on the downside who immediately causes locker room strife with an overreaction in Jenkins.

Then we inexplicably overpay an oft injured guard to a huge contract in Peat.

And then this years CJ Spiller award goes to Emmanuel sanders who apparently can’t learn the offense.

Ugly parallels to that team.

We brought back a safety (and captain) that was on the team when we had the worst defense in NFL history. This FO makes the absolute dumbest decisions. Also decided to miss half of an already shortened training camp with his new team. He should have been cut right then. Ravens had the balls to do it with ET, and they're sitting at 2-0

Sorry. Can't pin all of that on Jenkins. Only person who had any semblance of a decent show on Waller was DD and that was due to size and skills. No one in the secondary had success coveting Waller tonight.

Definitely agree about Peat though. We should've let him walk.

Sanders is exactly who he’s been for the past few years. Just because he burned the Saints last season doesn’t mean he was great. He had plenty of games that he was on a milk carton.

Most thought we needed a WR2 when there are only so many options that can run routes where Brees can get the ball.

The Bills used to be the tram whose free agents killed us. Spiller and Byrd.

Not it’s the eagles. Jenkins and Robinson haven’t worked out.

This game is on Brees, take off the homer shades and you'll see defenses just don't fear him deep. Bell was a run-stopping safety, and would've eaten from the same garbage can Jenkins did tonight. This team had no answer for Waller. There was no other realistic guard on the market when we signed Peat. He was the only choice. And Sanders is pretty obvious. Players, especially receivers, tend to struggle in the first year of a SP offense. Look at Cook last year.

True dat...

It's a confluence of many things:
A FAST aging QB, missing your best WR, rapid and effective adjustments by the Raiders coaches, absence of similar adjustments by the Saints, the usual head scratching play calling ( or reviw calling by SP), a Raider TE who was balling, Carr got hot etc etc....

Uh,,,did I mention.....not allowing Lat Murray to play 2 consecutive plays ;)

Saints are on the decline...take it or leave it....

Nope. Sure, Brees wasn’t great, far from it. But did you watch our Defense. I’m not sure what they were doing. Allen looked completely lost on the sideline.

Bringing Jenkins back, combined with Allen, smelled bad...what about their last time together made you want to see it again. Jenkins underperformed those years.

The TOP speaks for itself, the defense was on the field for nearly 40 minutes. It's hard not to be gassed when your offense is sending you back onto the field every three plays. Were they great? Nope, but everything they did was just tossed aside by the offense regardless. Brees was throwing balls into the ground or behind guys the entire game, and anything positive was the player (specifically Kamara) making the best of a five yard lob. Father time has won again, and the lack of MT put a massive spotlight on it.

Did you even see our 3rd down D? I never said that Brees played well. But Mahomes had about the same kind of performance, and their D actually allowed the team to win. That’s what great teams do.

Can someone explain to me how Warford was somehow worse than Peat, Ruiz, or Easton?
Warford was out of shape and slow and had gotten into the SP doghouse for it. Peat is faster and more versatile. He's also Terron Armstead's backup. And Ruiz literally played his first real game snaps ever tonight. And Easton is fine as a backup. One Ruiz is up to speed he won't even be playing come midseason, health notwithstanding.
