My frustration is beginning to reach a boiling point. I'm watching Aaron Rodgers fling the ball down the field without his best receiver and yet everything for the Saints is a struggle. If it wasn't for Kamara this would've been a blowout. Whether it's Payton or Brees....it has to be understood. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE BALL DOWNFIELD IN TODAY'S NFL!!!! You see what happens to our defense when the opposing team does just that. I just can't fathom when or why our offense has become dink and dunk. Of course there's blame to be had on the other side of the ball too. Does this defense know how to cover a Tight End? It's nice to know we let some no name guy star in tonight's game and we gave Mercedes Lewis a TD after probably about 3 years. WOW...and the penalties???? Yeah a few of them were suspect but if Jack Rabbit doesn't stop grabbing receiver's arms he will become less known for that Week 1 Pick 6 and more as a reminder of Brandon Browner. And that wouldn't be good. It sucks to be 1-2 but the sky isn't falling yet but I'm very concerned. We lost Peat and Cook hurt his groin. Gonna be a long week.

Green Bay might look flashy but look at the stat lines!

Rodgers - 21/32 283 3td

Brees - 29/36 288 3td

Rodgers got it with huge plays but the result is the same only Rodgers got there in less time because our defense literally gave it up on 2 plays!

I swear I’m going to start copying and pasting my response to these, “our offense is predictable” posts. As you’ve laid out beautifully, WE SCORED 30 points. These posts are reading as if our points have been in garbage time and they haven’t.

We needed the defense to make GB kick a field goal instead of score on just one drive and we win. The cries to launch bombs when we effectively end up with nearly the same stat line is mind blowing. We have had this offense since ‘17. I am confident we will start seeing more downfield plays around game 5.

Think of September as our preseason. Drew had his best game in what would’ve been his third preseason game- commonly referred to as the dress rehearsal. I truly believe we are right there on offense and we just need to get timing down. Until then, I don’t care about deep throws as long as our defense stops giving up nearly 40 a game and we can keep scoring methodically. The offense played winning football today; defense did not.

I couldn't even tell you the new HC for the Packers but they come in an rip us a new one. Our seasoned group of coaches and mix of ageing vets and youth are left licking their wounds. Pretty frustrating.

I'm sorry to tell you this but the offense has been the same for the past few years now. The only difference is our defense is giving up more points & penalties than they did in the past. The defense has been carrying this team for awhile and it's finally showing since they are not coming up with stops.

The new HC for the Packers has the best record in the league since he started. They rip a lot of new ones in a lot of teams.

I agree that the D (and turnover) were the most significant reason for the loss. But don't agree on the preseason analogy....every team faces the same situation there....no excuses....

It's hard to push the ball downfield when there's nobody to throw to. Last week we had at least 5 dropped balls (i don't care what the official stat is). Our O line is much better at run blocking than pass protection. Drew has always been one of the best at getting the ball out quick but when you have to scan all your options because no body is open except last checkdown you're in trouble and it ain't the QB. Even the great ones look bad when they're under constant pressure.

The opponents don't have that problem. Lack of a pass rush exasperates the poor play of our D backfield.

I’m not talking about every team. I’m talking about a Drew Brees led team on offense. Probably more so than most offenses ours requires precision and timing. A lack of reps impacts timing, which effects chemistry. I truly believe the lack of longer plays has more to do w/Drew being out of rhythm. I believe the ship gets righted in October.

I'm saying that other teams operate under the same conditions and their passing attacks require precision and timing as well. I don't buy that as an excuse but I hope you are right about the ship being righted soon....

well last night we had a bunch of receivers open intermediate to deep and Drew wouldn’t pull the trigger. The announcers even commented on it. How is it that we have the only wr corps in the league that don’t ever get open, when every other teams nobody receivers can get open. Something doesn’t add up.

The announcers also commented on how Taysom wouldn’t pull the trigger the few times he was in at QB. Cris expressed that he thought it was for the same reason Brees hadn’t gone deeper- lack of trust/off timing.

If we are still having this issue in mid October, then we can kiss this season goodbye, but I believe that the timing is being figured out. Our team is notorious for slow starts. This is going on year seven that we look like trash the first few games. I guess I’m used to it and tend to wait for around game 4 to see what we truly are.

I agree as well. Defense was the reason this game was lost. As far as preseason reps, as stated, every team was in the same boat.

Concerning Brees, if I recall correctly, he may have participated in one series in last years preseason. Hopefully the offense will become more fluid with time but that defense... Damn!
