After the last two games, why are we not seeing more Zach Baun? Isn't it time to play him, or possibly start him? Just an idea

He can’t be any worse than what we’ve got right now. At least give the kids reps and see what he has. You know Anzalone is going to get hurt eventually, might as well get Baun some reps.

Classic fallacy. He absolutely could be.

Worse might be thrusting a rookie player, who is changing position and also has not had the benefit of a proper preseason, into action before they are ready, setting them back and destroying their confidence.

I'm sure he'll start to get some opportunities, let's be patient and not just throw the baby out with the bathwater in desperation.

I’m not saying put him in as a full time starter, but our pass rush has been horrible so far this year and that is supposed to be his specialty so why not put him in there for a few snaps. What’s the worst that can happen? A WR streaks wide open down the middle of the field for a huge gain on 3rd and long? Oh wait that already happens every game already

That doesn't change the basic fact that if he isn't ready, then he's not making the team better by playing

College pass rush was one of his strengths, that does not necessarily mean he is suited for NFL pass rushing. He may have been faster or stronger than a bunch of college tackles, these NFL hombres are a different breed.

If he’s on the Active roster the Coaches have believe he’s able to contribute. He’s been in on kickoff returns. If he wasn’t ready he would be on the inactive list and some who is ready would be on the active roster. Not everyone shines in practice and he’s probably not ready for full time LB duties but rushing the passer is pretty straight forward. Again if you put him in and he doesn’t do well then fine, if he actually does well then maybe we can stop some of those 3rd and Kong’s that we can’t stop anyway! It’s a win or break even situation

Silly for him to get zero snaps while Ellis got burnt for a TD and looked slow. I swear our ability to evaluate talent can be suspect at times. We have done a better job drafting, but the decisions made by coaches on who to play and who to sit can be puzzling. No way Baun shouldn't get some pass rush/blitz looks. Anzalone is not a good blitzer so that leaves Davis to do so which is easy for opposing teams to block when you know it's coming. It also takes our most talented defensive player out of coverage. DA either needs to get it together or go. Like it or not, bad calls by refs or not, our defense the past 3 years has let us down when games mattered most. We lost the #1 seed last year because of the San Fran game. We couldn't get a stop on their best player with the game on the line. In Vegas we couldn't stop their best player again. Terrible coaching.

Being on the active roster doesn't mean you are ready to play on defense. But nice leap. Sounds like he's ready for special teams and hopefully in the depth chart somewhere for more action as the season goes on.

But basically, it doesn't matter what I say, you just want to see someone else playing in the hopes of it leading to better results. Those dumb coaches.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Ellis responsible for the wide open score to a TE vs the Raiders as well?

Got a few lost guys out there in coverage.

I forgot he was on the team. BTW, how's Patrick Queen doing? I think he will get compared to him considering how we passed on him.

Sean Payton doesn’t play anyone with potential until someone gets hurt. That’s how it’s always been under Sean Payton.
He played Kamara, Colston, Thomas, CJGJ, Davenport, Rankins, Anzalone, Lattimore, Williams...

Quite a few potential players we've played immediately. Because they grasped their role quite quickly. And also had full proper offseasons to get up to speed. Nothing is ideal right now. But making up notions about Payton refusing to play people as if there's no reason for it is less than helpful.
