Early CBS Mock Draft have the Saints taking QB Zach Wilson out of BYU (1 Viewer)

Reminds me a lot of Russel Wilson's deep ball actually. I am fully convinced that our next QB will be mobile so this could be a possibility.

Brings up the interesting point of does SP move to a shotgun style offense like a lot of teams have done with young QBs or try to teach one of these guys how to play under center?

Consider me a fan. That kid can play, and make all the throws. This season has been a blessing for him as he has had a chance to showcase his talents with BYU on TV and ranked. During a regular CFB season he would probably be an afterthought in most people’s minds and probably unheard of until the week before the draft.

Sign me up.

For the record, most of his teammates aren’t NFL bound. The one guy that would be a day 1 or day 2 pick Kenner native Matt Bushman got hurt in the preseason and is out for the year. That guy is a Tight Ends tight end in that Kittle mold where he can block like a lineman and catch like a wide receiver. Anyone who watch LSU vs BYU might remember Bushman as the only BYU player worth spit that game.

That said about Bushman, his injury might be the reason Wilson leaves early and enters the draft. Also, I would draft Bushman in the 3rd or 4th depending on where he is with that knee injury.

If Saints go after a QB in draft, it should be Trevor Lawrence. How much are they willing to give up is the question.

A million things would have to go the Saints way for that to happen. A non-NFC team would have to land at #1 and already have 'their guy', then there's the rest of the teams offering the same king's ransom to get him, and even that's working under the assumption that the Saints pick is high enough for said team to consider. The Texans would be an ideal trade partner here, assuming they keep tumbling the way they are.

I wouldn't put it passed this staff, but it's just not super realistic.
