I'm sure it's not a coincidence that you're drawing that comparison, I've been thinking about the similarities since the character first appeared.
Yep. Her being evil is the twist I did not expect.

so very much thisNothing in this show is a coincidence. They have this unique ability to be obvious and subtle all at the same time.
So, is it just me or is Congresswoman Victoria Neuman supposed to be a stand in for AOC? The anti-corporate campaign certainly suggests that. But, I wonder if they are going to go with the idea that she is a Supe that is fighting corporations and pushing against Capitalism or if she is outwardly against corporations but secretly a tool or the corporations?
It would be an intersting twist if this season was about the evil fascists with next season being about the evil socialists. Or it could just be a continuation of the evil corporations controlling the government with a covert agent in Neuman.
seems very intentional - and it let them get away with a lot - instinctively we knew that 'no way are they going to do something 'bad' to a setting Congressperson - so i think we subconsciously took her off the board as a pawn in the drama and that's why the punch landed so well
i also think it's a setup for next season - so they did a big take down of right wing politics this season, i can almost bet they are hoping/anticipating the election goes a particular direction so they can take big swings at left wing populism next season. and i'll have to be a big boy about it
agreed on bothThat's what I was thinking. Next season is going to be taking shots at left wing populism instead of taking shots at right wing populism like they did this season. That would be the most interesting direction for them to go to IMO. The other option is to make her a right wing plant in the left wing populist movement, but that would be far less interesting to me.

That's the first thing I thought of too. I could see her taking a "f it" turn.ok is Annie going? She is the most boring character but if someone turns her out she might become more interesting.
Yeah, could they just go ahead and get her naked? TIA.That's the first thing I thought of too. I could see her taking a "f it" turn.
