What happened with MT??? (2 Viewers)

If this were the playoffs, Mike would be playing.

If Mike wasn’t already questionable with the ankle, he would be playing.

Call it a suspension to make a point, but circumstances dictate everything. This locker room is strong enough to even put the OPOY back in line. They’ll get through this.

Haven't read the last few pages of this thread. Still wondering how no media saw anything. Did it not happen on the field?

I also heard from someone who was there and he said it was a sucker punch. People are undermining the severity of this. MT is in hot water with everyone involved in the Saints organization. You don’t blindside a teammate.

I really wish I could share everything, but that would ruin any other future news I could get.
This implies players read this board frequently and thoroughly.

I heard exactly what happened from someone that was there and what MT did was a HUGE cowardly move. Allot of other Saints players are P'Oed as well. Not a good look at all

If you heard exactly what happened please enlighten us!

Yeah, Underhill said something similar on his periscope today. It wasn’t like an altercation which began with some shoving and then tempers flared leading to a punch. This was unexpected.

With that said, I expect MT to learn from this. Taking a game away from someone as competitive as he is is a huge punishment. He’s not getting traded (we can’t afford the cap hit) and every one of his teammates will be on the staff’s side on this one. They also know he’s a huge key to this team’s championship aspirations and, regardless of tension, hurt feelings, etc, will welcome him back when he returns and apologizes.

Everyone who's "heard something" seems to be following this narrative so the fire by the smoke seems to suggest that Mike was really in the wrong.

Yeah there's past instances before of this happening with greats like Steve Smith and legends like Michael Jordan, but it doesn't make it right. Hopefully Mike apologizes and they leave it be. They don't have to be best friends, but just keep it moving.

Team wise the solution, like always, is winning. Win and this becomes a blip on the radar so long as Mike actually learns and grows from this. Lose or continue to hover around .500 mediocrity and it can affect the locker room. We learned this in 2014-16.

I hope you're right and it's not something that has been simmering for a while. He certainly did not look like himself in game one before the injury. I truly hope it's an isolated incident and not a sign of a larger locker room problem.

I understand the cap hit issue, but the Saints have shown an unwillingness to stick with guys -- no matter talent and financial implications -- who cause locker room issues.

Lets keep it straight. Bobby Portis did not sucker punch Mirotic. All reports say Mirotic started the whole thing and charged at Portis before he got what he apparently wanted.

I think some of this is the fight and some of this is not wanting to play Thomas this week. Practice fights and saying bad things, even towards asst coaches, are too common. Always have been.
Ok, that is right. Not a sucker punch I do recall the punch was unnecessary, more like cold cocked.

If I was sucker punched at work by a coworker I think I would have a hard time moving forward with that person. I might be able to put it aside for a time but payback would be coming. This is a bad situation. I mean that is a criminal charge.
Bingo! This is no conspiracy. What Mike did could have resulted in a crime.

I don’t know what you do for a living, but these players work in a business which welcomes acts that would typically lead to criminal charges if they weren’t on the field.

A sucker punch is certainly crossing a line. But physical fights and altercations happen at practices all the time. Comparing it to a normal work environment doesn’t work.
