How Did Lattimore Make that Tackle? (1 Viewer)

I’m wondering if Williams had a leg bending in an awkward position and then had a reflex reaction to not continuing to torque on it and maybe injure a knee. The way he all of the sudden lunges backwards makes me question it but I’d have to look at it again.

But not taking anything away from Lattimore. Huge display of sheer will...

I agree, when he is motivated and focused he can make plays. We all know he has tremendous ability which is why it is so frustrating/head-scratching that he under performs so frequently....
I’m not sure he’s been really underperforming. He’s done a great job limiting his opponent to date IMO. He is put into very tough matchups every week and a lot of the time is put on an island. With all the rule changes benefiting the passing game and what I consider biased enforcement against the saints it may look that way. I like him and glad we have him

I don’t think anyone really believes he is playing close to the level he was his rookie year. That said, it may not be just him, DA’s schemes may be an issue also, I just hope the defense (and Latt, the rest of the secondary and the pass rush) improves...we will see....

Lat has great explosion and great power for his size. On some tackles, you can see him stiffen to get a good base to make the tackle.
Yeah he’s a freak. His closing speed is second to none in the league also. You see that as he allows the catch on Mike Williams and the suddenly burst he exhibits to close some serious ground to position himself to make the stop. Pretty fantastic. We’ve got some studs on that defense

Even with DD hitting Williams towards the first down, Latt still bent that dude back. This is why I have NEVER said anything even remotely critical about Latt. Dude is a gamer. There are probably only a handful of guys in the NFL that could have made that play, in that fashion. Williams ran a perfect route, had great separation, has the right amount of speed to get to the chains, Herbert had good ball placement, but Latt somehow made that darn play. It’s crazy

That’s an awareness of where he was in relation to the yardage marker combined with some superhuman strength. A+ defensive play.

For Latt to have the situational awareness and will power to make that play, truly amazing. Considering the circumstances that was one of the best tackles I have ever seen.

As fans we've questioned Latt's motor, desire, and focus but when he's locked in he's one of the best all around Corners in the league. He has some dog in him and it showed on that play. We might look back and point to that tackle as the play that turned the season around.

It was something to behold. He didn’t even have his body in the best bracing angle. I lost count of how many times I hit rewind lol

That demonstration of will to win is hard to find comparisons for. Maybe Meach stealing the ball against the Dolphins in 09
Just for accuracy--- it was the "team formerly known as the Redskins", not Dolphins, but point taken. :100:
