The best 3rd down conversion rate over the past 18 NFL seasons is held by the 2011 Saints at 55.8%.

The 2020 Saints come in just a shade behind that pace at 55.0%.

Here's the track record for Brees' 3rd down conversion history since his breakout season in 2004:

04 - 4th
05 - 5th
06 - 3rd
07 - 4th
08 - 2nd
09 - 6th
10 - 1st
11 - 1st
12 - 4th
13 - 4th
14 - 1st
15 - 1st
16 - 1st
17 - 22nd
18 - 5th
19- 11th
20 - 1st

The playoffs

Throw the numbers out the window, because Brady will have all of that soon. This season will be measured on what we do, or not do, in the playoffs.

What happened in 17?

Quite the outlier

thats really odd as is 09. 6th isn’t bad but it isn’t very high compared to his other years at the time. You would have thought it would be one of the best. A lot of stats don’t matter much but this one is a really good indicator of how valuable your QB is. As go that number so do win totals.
