What is our current streak for holding a back to less than 100 yards again?

And furthermore defenses have been strapped in about every way possible. Defensive backs have it the worst but any player trying to tackle a running back now has to be careful of helmet to helmet - no matter if the running back is the one who initiates it or not. So defenders basically have to aim for the hip and lower just to avoid a penalty, ejection, or fine. Probably why we are seeing more running backs leaping over defenders now.

honestly, they really don’t have to. I wouldn’t run on the Saints either. Just enough to keep them honest

Not to take anything from him but he started the conversation......defenders are bigger and faster now than in his day. He would be doing good to match his numbers and even that is improbable.

Honestly he's not wrong as teams adapt to stop the pass defenses get smaller and speedier so power running games are having a resurgence. Look at the Titans with Henry. While many of the top rushers are smaller faster guys, there has been success with big power guys lately. Bo was a combo of both, 230 pounds with insane speed. No doubt he could put up insane numbers, but how long would he hold up? It seems like there's always some sort of trade off, speed for bulk etc, and a large portion of the guys that have an insane amount of both have injury problems.

I remember that year he made the Pro Bowl. Good stuff.

Bo was good but he sounds like he's taken a trip to fantasy Island!!

He was good but he wasn't that good.
Ummm...Bo was that good. Not to mention that he is from a generation that worked extremely hard, had grit, and heart. Athletes these days are coddled, sensitive, and soft as baby poop. He would either truck someone or just run right past them. Just like he did in an era that actually allowed hard hitting. Lots of dirty and borderline dirty hits back then. You can’t tell me that what AP did when he came into the league (crap ton of 200+ games) and still gashing defenses are the age of 80 years old, that if Bo was in his prime he couldn’t do the same or better. Heck, look at Derrick Henry. Defenses are scared to hit that guy

Not really, there was an emphasis on speed in the late 80s and 90s with tons of track guys. Those players would have access to more modern training and nutrition just like Bo had he been born in this era. He ran a 4.13 which would probably be in the 4.2 range electronic. At 230 pounds and that is insane even for now. Offensive Lineman have gotten bigger as well as defensive tackles but linebackers have gotten smaller and ends are a little smaller with an emphasis on speed to pass rush rather than bulk to play the run. Dbs don't play the run as strongly as in the 80s and 90s

If I was to try and compare his running style to todays running backs, I'd put him in the Derrick Henry conversation. I do think he was probably better than Henry, but I'd guess his weekly rushing totals would be comparable.
