My wife just tested positive 2 hours before a hurricane.

Good times.
My sister tested positive. Mild symptoms. Her husband has mild symptoms as well. They are a week into the quarantine and doing great. Me, I tested negative with a 3 week cough, where my throat and stomach hurt from coughing.

I hope your wife breezes through it like my sister has.

My company had people come to the office and give them for free for exactly that reason.
We have for years but this year the company didn't want people gathering in the building so they set up free shots at some clinics. Won't happen. I went to a local drug store and got my shot.

This is really well done with excellent visuals.

May want to think about stocking up again
=====================================
Remember last spring, and just how much fun it was racing frantically through the grocery aisles, hoping to find something edible left on the shelves? Well, brace yourselves. Not only winter, but perhaps the Hunger Games Part II (holiday edition) may be on the horizon.

The good thing is, grocers are aware of the possibility of food shortages this time around, and many are preparing by assembling "pandemic pallets" of those food items they think are likely to sell out quickly and/or be difficult to re-stock at short notice.

We've all had many months by now to assess what happens when people are forced to stay at home for long periods of time, either due to the fact that they're self-quarantining, or because there's nowhere to go since businesses are shut down, or else due to the weather being cold and wet so who wants to go out anyway?

Still, before the weather (or pandemic) closes in, you should make one last grocery run to stock up on supplies.

Here are a few items you might want to squirrel away before hibernating just in case the whole world goes nuts once again.............

instead of missed work days I was thinking more along the lines of the fear and panic if you wake up one day and you're really sick, "Oh my god, is it covid?!" even more so if you're in a high risk category

"Am I going to be in the hospital by the end of the week?!" , "Am I going to be dead a week after that?!"

Then you finally find out you have the flu. Until you find out for sure I'm sure some people will be nervous wrecks
That's the reality of where I work (nursing home). We are tested twice weekly, and Monday's test yielded 12 more positive residents and 6 more positive staff. There are 27 total staff and residents currently testing positive. The number just keeps going up. I have one of my rehab staff down with it now.

It's going to spread all through the building. One of our casualties has been our infection control nurse, which is like losing your general early in the battle. Our maintenance supervisor is in the ICU.

Every cough has us thinking...

Yes, I'm scared.

Wait, wait, wait.....a study about airplane safety in partnership with an airline? And they're saying, "Everything is A Ok!" I trust that about as much as a study from McDonald's saying that their food is absolutely healthy for you.

A study of COVID-19 infection rates on airplanes by the Department of Defense and United Airlines concluded that the risk of masked passengers being infected by the virus while flying was “virtually non-existent.” A lot of people thought that sounded fishy, and it turns out an infectious disease doctor who ran a similar study is one of those doubters........

That was news to U.S. infectious diseases specialist David Freedman, who called the findings encouraging, but said the conclusions drawn by the IATA were based on “bad math.” Dr. Freeman told Reuters:
“They wanted me at that press conference to present the stuff, but honestly I objected to the title they had put on it,” the University of Alabama academic told Reuters.
“It was bad math. 1.2 billion passengers during 2020 is not a fair denominator because hardly anybody was tested. How do you know how many people really got infected?” he said. “The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”..............

There is also the reality of healthcare worker fatigue. The stress of dealing with COVID for 6 months now is taking a toll on us all. This morning I was in full PPE helping the social worker and activities director disinfect rooms as we move infected patients to the COVID hot unit. This afternoon I'll treat the patients I can. I'm the director of rehab, but if things continue, there will be no one on caseload.

If I sit down for 5 minutes after work, I'll fall asleep. I get up in the morning and everything aches. My wife says it's the stress. Yes, I go to the gym and work out the kinks, but the reality of another day of battle sets in and I wonder how many more?

Yeah I see it in my family member who is a nurse. It’s like she’s aged 10 years in the last 6 months. My thoughts are with all the health workers. It would be so much nicer if people could just wear the mask, practice some simple distancing and such and give the health workers a break.

Yes stress, but I’ve also realized I don’t drink near the amount of water I used to bc of the masks
Like I used to hydrate constantly during class, now sometimes I’ll go hours without realizing it because of back to back classes

Bro....Emma Louise has an idea for you...Hydrate....

People sacrificing their own comfort for health care workers? Good freaking luck. I think I'll just continue staying home like I have been since March. When I go get food, I stay at least 10 feet away from people and wear an n95 mask. If you invade my space, I'm moving out the way.

I really hate hearing how poorly health care workers are treated. They put their lives on the line to help people and don't get enough credit for it. My daughter is a nursing major and is currently interning at a hospital near her school. She's a rock star!
