If early big lead Sunday.. (1 Viewer)

While, yes, I know beating a team like we did to Tampa is rare, SF is without a lot of their best talent. If any part is close, I'd say just the 1st qtr. There should be no excuse to why we can't make them look worse than Tampa Bay last week.

I still say we will have a big lead in this game. If we have a similar strategy and utilize everyone correctly, we win big. I just want to see Winston get some passes in to see how he is adjusting. Practice doesn't tell all so it's different.

Guys, we’ve got to quit thinking like this. Shanahan knows how to game plan against this Saints D and offense has thrown a clunker or two this year. This game like every game the rest of the year will be challenging.

This game kind of reminds me of the Redskins game in 2009. Worries me a little bit, hope we come out prepared on Sunday!

I think both coaches will try to protect their squads and play a TOP game. Rather low scoring. 24-17 Saints. Depending on flags it might be 31-17 or 27-20. No flags we run away but I don’t think we’re that lucky.

What I would like to see is to secure the 1 seed by week 16 and sit Drew week 17 and let Taysom and Winston each have a half then. If that doesn't happen then hopefully the seed the Saints get can't be improved or worsen and then sit Drew.

Because those of us who have been paying attention knows every NFL game is different, there are no guarantees....and while I hope the Saints win going away I don't count on it actually happening?

Never heard of "trap" games? I could name a few from the past....

Should Winston play the entire 2nd half if we are up 30+ points? I know Drew probably would like to be in the game, but I think we need to see how Winston does.

I think Saints fans need to pump the brakes on this for now.

The Saints were in a "perfect storm" last Sunday night against the Bucs but it doesn't mean that things will be like that for the rest of the season.

We always talk about not eating the cheese so let's not start eating the cheese just yet. We all thought that way last season after the bye when a struggling and injured Falcons team came to town and what happened? The Saints got gutted is what happened!!

These are not the 2009 Saints that could put up 30+ point leads on teams in the blink of an eye. They still need to play fundamentally sound football the rest of the way. There are still some tough games to play with in all probability a couple of losses sprinkled in along the way.

I know you said "if" but lets wait and see if these Saints can put up 30 blowout leads on teams before we come to expect it.

While I know the 9ers are rather decimated in personnel, they're still an NFL team, so even if we actually have a big lead, I wouldn't let up on the gas until about the 2 minute warning.

Or to put it another way: don't be the Falcons...

Yep, don’t Falcon this up!

Drew is going to want to put as much space between him and Brady on that TD record.
We'll see.

It was pretty telling that they let Taysom have an entire series until they got to goal line, then put Drew in for a TD pass.
I think that was less about the actual record and more about trolling Brady. lol

Blowouts in the NFL are rare. I just want a saints win, and maybe another 4 TD day for brees to pad his lead!

Blowouts are rare because of league-wide parity.

Parity is a little less in the league this year - due in large part to the limited offseason work and lack of preseason games.

However, aside from parity, I truly believe — deep, deep down, that the league instructs officials to tighten calls in potentially lopsided games to make the outcome more balanced.

Blowouts are bad for TV business. They need ratings to stay relatively stable throughout a game to keep ad revenue at its maximum potential. Blowouts cause tuneouts.

So they happen occasionally, usually in situations where it’s completely unexpected (see Saints vs Bucs and Bucs vs Packers). But in situations where the game going in is a mismatch - I think you see much fewer blowouts and I have to think officiating plays a part.

Are you fairly new to watching NFL?

Sure! If thats what you think. I still think we win big. Call it big ego or whatnot. I know it's still the NFL and yes, I know the refs can dictate a game, but with everyone on our team healthy for the most part, we have no excuse this game!

The Bucs beatdown was awesome, but let’s touch the breaks a bit. Quite a bit, actually. Lol

I think it's good to be optimistic and besides the Falcons, I hate the 9ers more than anyone. Joe Montana can burn in hell for standing in our way.

52-3 Saints.
