My thinking was if you expect Brees to return, whether its 3 or 5 weeks, you'd limit Taysom so that when Brees returns, you have a much higher chance of re-establishing a healthy Taysom's joker role. You would start Winston with the hope he can game manage as we lean on the other areas of the team for the next few weeks like we did with Teddy. If you don't expect or don't know if Brees can return, do you go with Taysom because he's our best option to win NOW?

It could be Jamies hasn't shown enough promise yet and Payton is simply putting the best player out there right now, regardless.

Just looking under rocks. Don't know what to do with my hands while we await the fate of Drew.

The chance is open to see what Taysom has, is he the in house Qb of the future that Payton has talked about? Here is the best chance to see what we have in him as the “future” I really believe Payton is giving him the opportunity to see what’s he got, nothing more nothing less.

I dont think you limit any player for any future game unless it's due to that player being injured. Its pro ball. If you can play, you play. Best players on the field. Football season is 16 games. Every game is important.

If this was the old ATL guy, Mike Smith, I'd be LMAO that we're gigging the white-haired coach whose head Sean Payton lived in. I miss him smashing his headsets on the field. And I want to say I feel like SP is going with Taysom just because nobody was really expecting it. But would he be that reckless even just to gig this franchise?

I wonder, what would Bill Bellichek do?

This a great post. I've been thinking the same. It also shows the confidence payton has in hill to a degree. Hes saying that hill at QBs is better than Jameis WITH Hill in the joker spot.

I've got a feeling taysom is gonna totally embarrass the falcons and then.... "QBs drama"

It might have just been that wild hair.

Winston is new in the system. Hillhas been here a few years and is 30. Brees near done. It’s now or never to see what he’s got...
If it’s crash and burn as a conventional QB with Hill then Winston is here now so next man up to see what he’s got...

I'd go with 'Jamies hasn't shown enough promise yet..."! Payton is all about winning and I believe he thinks Taysom gives him the best opportunity to do that!!! Hope he is right!!

On the flip side if taysom can really establish the passing game over the next few weeks then his snaps in the joker role will be even more dangerous.. I think he could get us a lot of first downs in the playoffs in this scenario.

I think it's really good hat simply a indication that Hill was exactly what Payton said he thought he was and resigned him to be.

A week to prepare us why Hill is starting. Winston is Brees backup because Tsysom plays a different role on Sundays and with Brees out Hill can take starter reps in preparation for the following weeks game.

Replace 'Taysom' with 'Winston'

I've been thinking that Taysom would be deadly if all the pass plays are basically 2 reads then either check down or run. He's not great at going through his reads and the simpler the better.

Sean Payton is trying to win a game on Sunday.

That's like holding out your closer in baseball because you want to save him for the next night's game. Tomorrow is not promised, you do what you need to win right now.
