Thanksgiving Food traditions (2 Viewers)

My fried bird is done resting and I'm about to cut it. It's really dark because of the dry brine which had a lot of black, and pink pepper, as well as smoked paprika. I pulled it at 162 degrees in the breast.

Probably cooked mine a bit too long. But it had already split open at the top, presumably where they inserted the other 2 birds. Gonna rest a few more minutes and start carving it up.

If he drops the turkey straight from the freezer it will be a disco inferno.
Not only this, but trust me on this. I served on a volunteer fire dept. for a few years. You do not want to be near a propane
tank when it starts to bleve. I've seen first hand what damage they can cause. Please Please Please, if you use a propane
source, use it outdoors as far away from the nearest structure. They are basically giant incendiary grenades ignited

Oof, marshmallows expiration date is April 2020...would you? Lol. I figure cooking it can't hurt, but idk.

my mom made everything but stuffing. wtf. her reason was my brother doesn't like it.

anyway, time to crash.

My wife has been doing a buttermilk soak for just about any poultry we do (I think she got it from the salt, fat chick)
Anyway we did that with the turkey (plus salt and spices)
Cavity filled with leeks and clementines
That was a **** good bird
Also the sweet potato pie was dang good

off to have a quiet mci

They won't be bad. Too much sugar for anything bad to grow. They might not have the texture that you might expect though.

Have you ever seen that SNL skit where he is at Thanksgiving dinner and he opines over and over again about somebody eating all the swe potaatoooos? Cracks me up every time....
