N/S Lamar Jackson Tests Positive for COVID-19 (1 Viewer)

That "if" is looking more like a "when" since the NFL would love to be able to do something disadvantageous to the Saints while having a perfectly good excuse to do so in order to avoid any media backlash.

Ah thanks. That’d be our luck

The league has already discussed adding a week 18 if necessary. And I don’t even think they’d do that unless it determined whether the Ravens and Steelers would win the division or not (MAYBE for home field advantage).

So unless ONE (or more) playoff teams has two (or more) meaningful games cancelled each, it almost certainly won’t affect the bye week scenarios. They would just play week 18 for those who need it.

Heck, the 1-seed in both conferences would end up getting, in effect, TWO bye weeks in that scenario.

Because if there are too many games that get postponed, they are going to add week to season and add 8th team to playoffs, so 1 seed will not get bye.

Did the league actually say that or somebody floated that as a possible result?

How many games have been lost so far? I think they’ve all been played (even if late) at this point, right?

They approved the eight-team scenario *if* all teams in playoff positions can’t play all 16 games in *18 weeks.

Current goal is to play all 256 games in 17. But there are multiple contingencies before we get to the expansion point.
