Wheel of Time - Cast Predictions/Wishlist (1 Viewer)

If you ever have the time, Sanderson teaches a course on creative writing at BYU and he has made the lectures available for free on YouTube, and they're incredible if you're into writing, worldbuilding, whatever. He's a guy that absolutely knows his stuff.

As to Terry Goodkind (RIP)/Sword of Truth/Legend of the Seeker...I've never understood the success of that series or him as a writer. What I tried to read of his was akin to wading through rubber cement.

I read the first 2 Stormlight books and thought they were amazing. Just exquisite world building. I have been unable to plod through the 3rd book over the course of a year

I'm disturbed to find out we have something in common, LOL. My exact experience as well. In fact, I moved on to other books and totally forgot about the series.

Yes, the first one was really enjoyable though. My favorite of the first two, I think.

Lots of new clips have come out. I'm re-reading the first few books just as a refresher.

I'm really looking forward to Nynaeve's character on TV...big book crush on her. And clearly Zoe Robins is downright gorgeous. She could easily be my next Daenerys (Emilia Clarke).

Something that I'm not sure about is the pacing. The books are big...and there are 15ish of them. There is no way that the show is going to go 15 years. So will they compress two books per seasons? Perhaps have the show air twice per year. That seems like a more manageable 7 or so years...though that is still quite long.

There's at least three books worth of pure exposition they could cut and nobody would know. After Lord of Chaos, Jordan caught a terminal case of literary elephantiasis.

I loved this series in my teens (my favorite series at one point) but gave up somewhere around book 9. Then tried again in my adult years but Knife of Dreams was so painful I couldn’t continue into the Sanderson effort. Never did finish the series.

It was rough...but I was so invested. There is a very good chance the series will be better. I hope they get feedback from Sanderson...who’s brilliant and I think that he has his own thoughts on series production.

This photo fills me with as much apprehension as preseason game 1 did to David Robbins.

I pray to baby Jebus that this shot isn't in the show anywhere. And Moiraine is as tall as Lan!

I'm starting to think this show will last fewer episodes than there are books.

Two big pieces of news. First the trailer. Looks pretty amazing.

Mat Cauthon character being recasted for season two. Obviously not ideal. He was definitely one of my favorite characters.

I just saw the tavern trailer.

Ugh. Everyone, including Lan and Moiraine, look like they just got up from the stylists' chair. Clean, coiffed and closeup-ready.
Also, the guy playing Rand doesn't have 'it'. He might be a nice guy, but the Dragon Reborn ain't in there.

Yeah, I'm not liking the design direction. This is supposedly what the whitecloaks are going to look like. I'm not sure what is worse, the costume design or their perfectly styled hair (especially the two in the back)

It's all too polished and sterile looking. It doesn't look like a lived in world. That's just my take from what I've seen so far.

Agree with the above, plus that tavern scene felt very much like when my friends and I play D&D and we do the "we met in a bar" scene. But even more over the top with pregnant pauses and significant glances.

Do not have a good feeling about this at all.

Do the number of belts correspond to rank? This looks bad. I haven't read the WoT books, but this doesnt look interesting.
